Help How to control mobile datacommunication?

I am new with the S2. My battery was fully charged at night and the next morning it was turned off due to that the battery was emty. When I checked the use of datacommunication with "Network Counter" it said nearly 200 MB had been downloaded through "Mobile". When I view "Applications" inside "Network Counter" each application has used very litle datacommunication. How can I find out what application it is that has transferred nearly 200 MB and drained the battery within about 4 hours?

Currently I am reluctant to use "Mobile" communication due to the fact that I do not understand what has happen. Can I set the amount of datacommunication of Mobile pr instance so that it does not continue without me accepting it?

What is the reason behind that when I look at "Active Programs" (keeping the Home button down for a while and choose "Task manager" (I do not have english language so these are my translations to english)) I get 0 active programs. If I go to the "RAM-status" and choose "Empty RAM" I get for instance "17 program closed". How can I see these not active programs that still are in RAM?

Thanks in advance for any help on this!

that sounds like ur phone downloaded a system update during the night, it happened to one of my friends (although that was on wifi). i cant think of any app that would download 200mb overnight. go to settings/about/software update, and see if Auto updating is checked.. also, u can leave that on, and select download only on wifi, if mobile data is expensive.. although battery drain would be still a problem i guess

and to check ur running processes, go to settings/applications/running processes. wat u check in task manager are just the open apps..there are many other processes such as ur widgets, background apps (whatsapp or similar messaging apps) which are not actually apps that are open on ur phone :)

Thanks for your reply!

I had the S2 connected to the Kies software just before this happened and it said that the software was up to date. The version of Android was 2.3.3 and still is. Therefore I am not sure it has been a system update. Nevertheless a system update download should also be shown in the "Network Counter" Application view? Or is there another application I rather should use?

I can not find the Auto update, "Software update" gives me two options:"Check for update" and "Resume update". Please advise.

The battery drain is not a problem really, but the cost of mobile data is...

Now I found out how to see current running processes - thanks!

well yeah, i dont expect many regions yet to automatically update 2.3.4 to ur phone, so u couldve still received an update and be on 2.3.3.. and hmm, thats strange.. maybe u dont see it coz there's an update in progress? resume the update, let it complete, and then check back. 200mb+ is around the size of firmware when i flash one, so i assume this is the problem :D and i dont know if it'll show in ur network counter app, but if there's anything that wouldnt show, a system update sounds likely :P
