How to convert PSX ISOs to work on the Xperia Play

Something i haven't even actually heard from anyone yet, does converting these actually improve the quality and lag of the games as opposed to standard Emu's like FPSE?

R-Type Delta runs horribly on that.

Question for those who've had success with this: does it only work with .bin files?
Some of mine are .7z and .mdf. The one I tried that was a .bin worked, but the others open and immediately close. Based on the instructions it seems like this should happen the first time but not after that. The games in question are all listed as playable in the compatibility list.
Any suggestions?

theatremouse, I've only tried .bin files, but I have also only tried FFVII and Xenogears and both seem to work after I apply the "true" value on SW-render in preferences. I also used a freeware program, ImgBurn, that was recommended on another forum for psx4droid. It didn't work well with that but I used the same file using this process and it worked.

I still got more games to try that I own, but most are already on the compatibility list. I haven't attempted to try another other format other than .bin since that is already working.

Not sure if that answered much but good luck to ya. Also thanks to everyone, especially Yifan Lu, who has posted since I was able to get it working with all those "notes".

I've sat here for the last two days, trying every PS1 game I have (yep, kept them all) but none of them work. I can't get past the 'Cannot build APK! Java says: Executable did not return without error.' error.
I went through more than 10 different programs that claim to make iso files from cds (but couldn't) before I read here that you can use bin files (This is the only place that mentions anything but isos).
Am I doing something wrong or does this just not work in Win7? (been trawling the interweb but getting mixed messages on it)
Also, I'm on 2.3.4 so am I just wasting my time anyway?

jtwo - go to a store and buy the cd's again. We dont condone pirating software on this board.

I thought I had this working before I rooted my phone. I must have done it after I rooted (I upgraded before I knew I couldn't root that update, so I flashed it back).

I have one game with an error.. FFVII right after the submarine mission, every dialog box is outlined in yellow. I don't remember if saving after completing the mission and reloading actually fixes it.. running with software emulation. It does fix it.

fero - I did it from win 7, I only got it to work with bins. I believe I used IMGburn.. could be wrong

How do i play ps games on my xperia play, i brought it used it came with android 4.0 ice cream sandwich but there's no PS store, also i read that i need psx emulator but i don't have the original crash bandicoot as it didn't come with the phone, all help would be greatful, thanks

I said it in ur thread.
ICS is not supported by sony cause of game problems and it hasnt playstation apps.
Maybe if u install a game it will show it in app tray

It does not. I had done it while on 2.3.3 and had some games working. Carrier forced 2.3.4 on me and they no longer work. It opens, seems like it will work, shows the warning about seizures and whatnot, but then quits. (This example is from games that previously were playable)

please help every time i load a custom psx on xperia play from psxperia it loads then suddenly goes to home screen thank you in advance
