Help How to create contacts, etc?

I'm a newbie too and I don't know how or where to start - can someone help please?

OK, so I've switched the phone on (LG P500). I know how to make a call and answer it.

How do you add contacts?
Do you have to download an application? Where from?
Can I do that by connecting to the PC and uploading my database?

I have a gmail account. If I'm reading the miniscule manual provided by LG right, I think you have to set that up before you can download other stuff? Where do you find this stuff? Here on the forum?

I've probably got a 100 other questions but this will get me moving at least...

Thanks in advance

I had the same question as you when I first got the phone. But tinkering with it always helps. Android is a confusing place but when you're used to it you can do so much more with apps and stuff. Anyway, to add contacts:

contacts> press the tiny button on the left side of the phone (right beside the home button)> new contact

You can find a lot of things in that tiny button (I don't know what it's called). :)

I don't think it's required that you have a GMAIL account before you download other stuff, but in order to set up your email, you just click the GMAIL app and then type in your details. It's that easy.

There are couple of ways you can add a contact. If you have multiple contacts to add (usually for a new phone), it is better to do it with PC sync.
To start with, you can follow @mycaermita. or else to go to contacts on home screen and touch ass new contact.

Login to gmail is not mandatory for any apps to run (except calender, which is really annoying) but that always helps since its easy to sync with the available data and more important, it helps during phone lock

Even I am newbie with this phone, so still learning....
