Root How to delete OTA update zip file?

brihan

Newbie
Hi,

I am rooted however have not installed a ROM yet (one of these days).

The OTA update was downloaded and I get the notification to update which I won't and I saw the other threads on how to prevent this in the future.

My question is, since the OTA update has been downloaded to the phone where do I go to delete this file? What is it's name and location? Is deleting this file the right thing or safe thing to do?

Thank you,

Brian

I used the Cache Cleaner app from the market and it deleted it. From what I understand the updates download it to the cache folder.

Get root explorer and go into the system cache, should be called fr22d to frg33d sholes zip or something like that. I dont have my phone on me or i would look for you. Deleting the file wont get rid of the update notification because your phones operating system is not up to date. You can go to Pete Alphonsos website and download the OTA zip or you can go into root explorer and change the system folder and change the build prop manually. If you search the threads there is detailed information on how to do this. Im not sure if Petes OTA zip will work if you arent running bugless beast v04 or v05. It might if you put it on the root of your sd card and boot into recovery and then install the zip or you can do it trough the app Rom Manager , just be sure to make a back up. hope this isnt to much info, good luck.
