Help How to disable both 3G and Wifi?

Hi all,

My phone is several months old and un-rooted. I have always noticed that If I go into settings and disable both wifi and 3G one of them will immediately turn back on (as if you cannot have both disabled). After reading some threads on here it sounds like many people are able to disable both when not in use to save battery. Is there something wrong with my phone? I am not running any constanty streaming apps (that I know of) or task killers. Thanks!

Airplane mode. Wifi shouldn't turn itself on, if it does turn it off. Lots of home screen switch/widgets to do both.

I would do airplane mode but i would still like to be able to receive calls/texts.

Try downloading a widget app from the market like tcat007 mentioned. Also look at all your apps(while on the market page hit your menu button and select my apps) while your in the market and uncheck the "allow automatic update" box. Then on your phone press menu/settings/applications/running services and check and see if a downloaded app is running that's not supposed to be and tap it,then select stop. exit out. Wait a couple of minutes then go back and check top see if it's running again. If it is then check and see if it's on the sd card. If it's is then move it to the phone side and go back and stop it again. If it starts again then you might think about deleting the app and finding one that does the same thing. If it was already on the phone side then do the same things.

This cold be the reason why WiFi turns on when the 3G is turned off(it shouldn't).The app is turning it on. This will also lead to poor battery off charge times.

Wow, thanks! I tried what you suggested and there were a few (all factory apps) set to update automatically. I turned off both 3G and WiFi and after about 5 mins they are still both off. One of them used to turn back on within 5 seconds so this may have done the trick!

Ok, they both turned off for a while and then came back on. It seems that the Amazon App Store and The Weather Channel App keep restarting themselves after several minutes. From what I researched it looks like there's not much that can stop those two from running on their own.
