Help How to download Market?

Thanks a lot Smatt23.:) I will try this and post my update here.

By the way, should I check the "Re-partition" box or leave it unchecked?

So, even if someone roots the phone, reinstalling the original firmware upholds the warranty? I mean can't they find out the phone has been rooted?

Sorry for asking too many questions, I am very new to all of this. :D

attahas: From the guides I have read, better not repartition.

I believe that reinstalling the original firmware will unroot it, and thus uphold the warranty. However, this is just my belief, I could be wrong.:o

Is your VPN working? Mine works on wifi, but now it doesn't work with china mobile data connection, but it did with stock firmware.

Smatt23: I haven't tried VPN on my mobile yet, rather I don't know how to do it. I will let you know once I get it.

By the way, do you have the stock ROM for the Chinese firmware, the retail version? The one available online is the China Unicom version and not the retail one.

Thanks.

No, I can't find the stock firmware anywhere, just the unicom one.

I desperately need help!
I also bought my S2 GT-I9100G in China and wanted to flash ownhere ROM, but I guessed I did something wrong, and now my phone seems to be bricked - it does not boot and shows a yellow warning sign with a ! in it.

I must say I am completely new at this and until yesterday I had never heard of Odin, root or Rom. So after a little research found this forum and followed Smatt23's instructions which seemed simple enough...

I downloaded the ownhere file, put the phone into dowload mode, started Odin, copied the .tar file into PDA and pressed Start - everything seemed to work fine and Odin gave the message <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)

The phone then shut down and rebooted again, but never got past the initial screen with the yellow triangle. If I turn it off, it shuts down but immediately tries to reboot and gets stuck on the afore mentioned screen.

I need some sort of instructions for idiots with no previous knowledge of such things how to solve the problem, since I have a business trip in 2 days and am left without a phone now.... What do I do? Please help, someone.

Update:

Here's the messages displayed by Odin after running the .tar file from ownhere:

Oh, knickers!... for want of a better word.

Could you repeat your post over on all things root and someone may be able to suggest an alternative link for you. ;)

I've found a couple more roms and a kernel for the G and have updated the sticky ironass mentioned.

There you go gadorey!

that's the blokes attention I wanted you to grab... Shotgun84... our resident "G" spot, sorry phone, expert. :D

if you have any questions about rooting, it might pay you to post them over on, "All Things Root", and clearly mark that you have a, "G" variant.
