Help how to edit contacts?

I just upgraded to this phone and since my old phone was so old, the guys at Radio Shack weren't able to transfer my contacts over via bluetooth. No big deal, I did it all manually, but I seem to be unable to edit them once I add them. For example, I added my sister and forgot to list her in the group Family. There is no way to go back to fix it. I spelled someone's name wrong and I can't fix that either.

It seems to have imported my contacts from my Gmail account, but some are duplicates and I don't know how to combine them. I get to this contacts program by tapping the blue and white person icon next to the phone icon on the home screen. I kinda don't like it though, mainly because I don't know how to edit it, but also other little things, like if I fill in the person's company and title, it doesn't show me on the main screen, I have to tap it. And I don't know how to add photos to accompany each entry. Anyway, I was wondering if there is an alternate contacts app I could use instead, one that is more user-friendly.

My last question is since this list is connected with my Gmail, can I access it from my computer? When I log into Gmail, I have the same few contacts I always had. The ones I added to my phone were not added to my Gmail, so Im wondering if I can combine them and edit them that way.

Thanks for your help. I'm totally new to any type of smart phone so I have a lot to learn.
 
yes, you should be able to access and edit them from your pc from gmail.

I don't know why ones you added manually didn't show up in gmail, unless you just added them to the phone and not gmail, or you don't have it set to sync with gmail. check that under settings/accounts sync, on my phone.

edit: also, in People, click on your menu button. all sorts of options show up on mine!
 
Thank you for teaching me what the menu button is! I found the edit option. I knew it had to be there somewhere. I should really sit down with the manual to make sure I know the basics.

Sync with my google account is on. Is there a particular place I have to go to see it? It is showing my older contacts on the left side of the screen when I look at my Inbox.
 
when you go to gmail, see GMAIL sitting there on the top left with a little dropdown arrow?

Click it. You will see Contacts, click it!

All sorts of organizing options in there!
