Help How to enable 4g?

I was near a 4g tower and couldn't get a 4g connection. Am I doing something wrong? The reason I ask is because my friend who has a Samsung S2 was sitting next to me and was connected with full bars of 4g goodness while I sat there with only 1 bar of 3g slowness. I was using CDMA. I then switched to cdma/lte and the phone rebooted. He asked "why did you have to reboot the phone?" I didn't know what to say. After the reboot I still could not connect.

You can try going into airplane mode, then switch out of airplane mode. That will reset your radios, easier to do than a power down/power on IMO.

Are you serious. This seems like a very big issue, and I haven
t seen 1 gripe about it. Is everyone alright with this, because this is a big issue for me. I felt real embarressed when I could'nt pull up a 4G signal with my new S3. Will this be fixed in the future you think?

Yes, it does. It has 4G but uses Wimax. I just found out the S3 uses "ONLY" 4G LTE which will not work on Wimax. In other words My newly upgraded (SPRINT) phone is actually a downgrade. It isn't even backwards compatible. With Sprints supposed rollout of LTE in the next 6-12 months, I think I should have went with another carrier. Sheeesh> this sucks.

I understnad what a bummer this must be for you but before I spend any money on anything I always read and research and if I can read the reviews. The fact that the SG3 is LTE is not a downgrade it is a upgrade WiMax is going away. And LTE is hear to stay. The SG3 and LTE is way faster the WiMax and when you have LTE in your area you will have 1 very fast hod rod of a phone.

You are crazy to wait around for an update. Take the phone into your carrier and tell them your problem.

It seems there are quite a few that do not understand this at the time of purchase.

Think of those that bought the LTE Evo back in May/June...patiently waiting.

What area are you in. They are rolling LTE out (which speeds absolutely stomp Wimax btw) fairly quickly as of this past Sunday.

IMO Wimax will most likely be phased out over the next few years.
