Help How to enter safe mode?

abelia

Newbie
Hi,

I'm trying to enter safe mode on ...

some Samsung Galaxytab 10 inch or 10.1 inch, Samsung GT-N8000, Android 4.4.2 (according to some popup)

All the instructions I can find (none on these forums here) mention I should press and hold an on screen "power off" button to get to another dialog. I've been holding this button for 55 hours straight and nothing happens ;)

What is the real way, or another way, to enter safe mode?

thanks..

@abelia, are these the instructions you're following (from https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-14280)?:

Turn on safe mode
  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key.
  3. When 'Samsung' appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. 'Safe mode' displays in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  7. Release the Volume down key when you see 'Safe Mode.'
edit: fixed link; thanks, @abelia :)

Thanks, this is a different way than what I was trying.

Also fixed link: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-14280

I tried a few different variants of these. It seems to work:
- In step 3, don't wait for the samsung logo, but just for the "Samsung Galaxytab..." name
- In step 4, the volume down key is not the expected one, but it is the left volume key when in landscape orientation.
