Help how to find out 2.2 or 2.1

How do i find out if my optimus m has 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 so i know where to start? under settings on about phone it says 2.2 but i dont know if there is a .1 or .2 in there or if im looking in the wrong place?

ok so it is a 2.2.2 thank you now i know the direction i need to follow do i need to down grade to 2.2.1 to be able to do all the fun stuff?

Yeah you have to downgrade to 2.2.1 to root.

strange i rooted through gingerbreak and is there a difference with 2.2/ 2.2.1/2.2.2?

There have been claims of gingerbreak rooting a 2.2.2 optimus. It doesn't work every time and no one that I know of has found how it does work on the odd occasion.

Every optimus I have touched (20+) has taken root via gingerbreak and flashed all the cm7 roms (not on each device, of course).
2.2.2 is mostly a security update to make root harder to obtain afaik.
