Help "How To" for upgrading to 32 gb Card?

I've been looking for a tutorial for upgrading my memory card from the supplied 16 gb to the new 32 gb Class 4 card I purchased. I can't seem to find much on this. My phone is an unrooted Incredible 2, and I have a PC. I had heard from someone about an issue with file name letter case (upper/lower) that could be an issue. I do want to root my phone at some point, but I don't know if it would be better to root BEFORE or AFTER the move. Hoping someone here can point me in the right direction on this.

put your usb cable in your phone enable USB Mass Storage open my computer copy the contents to a folder on your desktop remove the cable. remove the cover off the back of phone. take out the sd card place the new card in the phone. repeat step one and copy the contents of the folder you copied to and place in the sd card.

Works like a charm. And, yeah, case does matter with *nix/Android directory and file names.
