Root [HOW TO](gaining root)unlock,downgrade,and achieve s-off with htcDev

im glad at leas one of your incredibles is sorted :) sorry we couldnt get the other one working as well.

cm7 is definately an excellent choice on an inc. there are cm 9,10,and prolly 10.1 for it as well,butare not as smooth or stable,and likely still missing some funtionality.

I am trying to root my two old droid incs. I have been doing the root method on the first post. I am stuck on step 4 where I am trying to downgrade from GB to Froyo. I am definitely rooted after step 3. I am hung up trying to push the mtd0.img to my sd card. I copy and pasted the last few lines from my command prompt. All of my md5sum numbers on step 4 check out okay.

Okay. I successfully rooted my wife's Droid Inc using the guide on the first post.

Now I want to root my Droid Inc. I never installed Gingerbread on my phone after realizing how bad it messed up my wife's Droid Inc. So since I am already running 2.2 on my phone, can I skip steps 3 - 6? I don't see why I would need to downgrade to Froyo if I am already running on it.

if you are on 2.2, you just need to run the unrevoked program, it will do everything for you.

i complete step four and get the froyo to to install... but when i try to gett the debugging to enable with google voice it giving error... but before with the android 2.3.4 i could have press the search debugging and i get to select it. it being like 4 days now siince im working on this so sonmeone please help me to get past this step please :confused:
 
I'm not sure understand the prollem. All you need to do is go to settings/apps/development and checkmark the usb debugging box.
 
thats de problem i'm not getting to go in that area im only getting to go in wireless and networks.. when i try to use Google voice it keep saying there is a problem with your connection... i hope u understand now

why are you using google voice? does your touch screen not work?

"Coming up with the froyo"? What do you mean? Froyo is the version of the Android operating system... what are you trying to search for? Press menu>settings> application development ...
Do you have a data connection?
 
let me expliain my self more properly.. the android operating system that i had on on my droid incredible was 2.3.4 with that i could have used the search and get into my debugging and sellect it ok but when i downgrade to the PB31IMG froyo... it is not allowing me to do the searching at all evetime i press the search key google voice coming up and it keeping saying connection error and im not getting to go into application and select debugging

Do you have a data connection, WiFi or cellular? Ie: does your internet browser work?
 
this would not be possible becouse i cant get into the phone to do anything other than activate the wifi... is there any other android os i can used instead of this PB31IMG froyo so i can get access to the debugging so i can continue to the next step

you could try flashing the same PB31IMG.zip file again
 
i did that but same thing... is there any other way around this i realy need to used the phone but. i cannot get off the problem with activation screen and it is lock to verizon and i dont have a verizon account becouse i dont life in the us.. its the droid incredible
