Help How to have *NO* wallpaper?

I'm just idly curious, but is there a way to have nothing at all as the wallpaper on my HTC Desire HD?

By that I mean, not a totally black picture, but totally no picture at all, just the blank screen except for application thumbnails? My understanding is that even just a picture of black takes power to display.

I realise that this could be a totally dumb question, but I'm currently on the learning curve...

Look for the app 'colors'. I think this is the one I have ... Colors - Android UK ...

Just go to google images, type in colour required, save in my docs, open and set as wallpaper

I realise that this could be a totally dumb question...

It's not what's on the screen that uses the power (well ok, a tiny, tiny amount), it's the backlight. If you had absolutely nothing on your screen, the backlight would still come on when you wake the phone.
As you're talking about still images & not live wallpapers, the computing power required to put the image on the screen is negligible.
