Wasn't that a bug in Tapatalk? I thought they fixed that recently - guess not.
Anyway... WHAT ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT?!?!?!
I've never had a problem restoring a Nandriod that I've renamed -EVER!
I've used several different file managers as well as using my PC over USB. I always rename them (so I know what they are) and I've never had any issues when restoring them with CWM - any version - any phone.
I always use the 'tar" method, if that makes any difference.

Only problems that I have ever had renaming are when I don't user tar. Otherwise they turn out right every time
