Root How To Install Play Store on CM9

Hi guys
I recently installed a custom ROM (Cyanogen 9) in my LG Optimus L3 E400 smartphone but I later found out it didn't have Google play & I found out that I have to reinstall the ROM again with gapps to get the Play Store. The problem is I don't know how to install ROM manager since the custom ROM doesn't have any file explorer for me to install apps from my D Card. Can you please advice me on how I can install apps from the SD card. Thanks

Don't use ROM Manager, can you just boot into whatever custom recovery you're using and install the gapps zip manually?
