i promise this is my last thread here(noobs have to start somewhere) but how do i go about installing custom roms. i do not want to use rom manager as i have been told it is extremely glitchy. if someone could direct me to a guide or just tell me your self your services would be greatly appreciated. thanks and god bless

It's really quite simple.
1) download cm 7rc2(gingerbread) to your sd card (preferably somewhere easy to find)
2) boot into recovery
3) wipe data (factory reset), go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache.
4) go to install rom from sd card, find cm7 and install.
(may take up to 20 minutes to completely boot... Be patient)

***Do a backup (nandroid, which may also take more than 15 minutes) before doing any of the above steps. When in recovery, use the trackball to select choices and the power button takes you back a screen. Also make sure you've backed up your apps with titanium***

I thought one was supposed to wipe data, then cache, then Dalvik cache? If so the middle step is missing. Or is cm7 different somehow? (Er, no need to do anything for me, mlam93.)
You can do that, but not necessary. I never wipe the cache and have never had a problem. Even wiping the dalvik isn't necessary, but I've seen more problems from not wiping dalvik.
Some people also recommend formatting the boot and system too before flashing, but in my opinion unnecessary unless you have a problem.
