Root How To Install The Icarus MOD

Is there anyway to backup your contacts, apps, etc on the sd card by using titanium backup or do I have to re type all my contacts, and re install all my apps when I do the Icarus MOD on my phone??

Yes and Yes, about your contacts: - Everytime you create a new contact, you get a popup asking you to select to save to your gmail acount or to the Phone. If you choose to save the contact in your gmail account instead of Phone, . Once you sign to your Google Account after the Icarus is succesful, you will get all your contacts back that you saved to your gmail account. If you are not sure if you saved a certain contact to your gmail account, long press on the contact, and if you see the option to Copy To Phone, then it means that the contact is saved it your google account, and it will be restored once you sign in after you install Icarus. You need to know your password to your gmail account though. All the contacts that when you long press on them give you the option to Copy to Phone will be restoredof your contacts to your gmail account, download Address Book Sync from the Market.
About Your Apps If you are rooted ( you need to be in order to install Icarus anyways), download Titanium backup free from the Market and make a backup of only the apps you downloaded from the Market. P.S. If you have paid for an app, you will not have to pay for it again.
 
one last question...and thanks so much joser for the help, I am assuming that my root will still be intact so I will not have to reinstall z4root and superuser..etc?? And do you know if Barnacle will work with Icarus? Thanks in advance

Yes, your root will be intact, and Barnacle will work. P.S. what Windows OS do yo have? Just curious.

Yeah I'll probably try it when all the bugs get worked out. I just read the link to the other forum where they said they had it overclocked to 800.! That would be enough to make a noticeable difference. I like that its closer to stock android too.
 
I cant wait until we start getting updates. Ive had a problem with my phone recognizing the USB so I couldnt drag pics or music but other than that its awesome. Im sure a update would fix that. I downloaded the Justpictures app so I can still put my pics as wallpapers and contact icons.

So for the Ascend users we have a 100 dollar phone that runs like a $350 dollar phone...Not to mention the 2.2 update is on the way. I think since this phone is so cheap is the reason the community is growing. Love it. Im getting this phone for my girlfriend for V-Day.

Cant wait for the updates.

Gmash- All the 'bugs' have already been worked out. Ever since I updated the instructions, no one has had any problems.
 
I followed the instructions to the letter. Just got this phone yesterday, tried some themes, and went headfirst into Icarus. First time trying, worked without a hitch. Directions are clear and concise if you just pay attention to them.

Well done on the write up Joser116, and thank you to the developers and everyone involved in this. My phone is sexy now!
 
Hello;

Using the Icarus ROM and loving it. My only problem is that in the notifications bar, some of the text is as dark as the background. I was wondering if there was a fix for this.

Actually, since that is not a bug, that is just the way Icarus is, there is no fix because there is nothing to fix. You just need to turn up your brightness.
 
joser i have been reading every1 comments and i really want this icarus mod. i followed the steps but i had to stop at the part where it says if i have version 3.xxx in clockwork recovery then stop and pm u. i cleared my cache and checked the other erase box, i did everything on my pc. the black box flashed quickly and left for both things that i had to click. and when i put into recovery, it still show version 3.xxx and not 2.xxx. can u please hlep me? i dont know what to do and i've already tried 3 times.
 
I have minimalistic text for my time and weather widgets and I am trying to get the text to match the color green that the signal bars and battery icons use in the notification bar. I have tried to match by eye but it seems off. Minimalistic text allows to set the word colors using the hex numbers i.e #00000F. I was wondering if anyone knew the hex number for the green that the battery and signal icons are.

I hope I am making sense. Thanks for the help.
 
It's not the brightness because everything shows up fine. Tell me how to take a screenshot of my screen and you will see what I am talking about. It's not a bug just a theme problem maybe. Let me know and I'll show you what I mean.

Download Screenshot app, and transfer the pictures to your computer. Then create a free Photobucket account and upload the pictures. Write a reply in this thread and click the button with the image icon to add an image. In another browser tab, open the screenshot using photobucket and view it in fullscreen mode, then right-click the picture and choose copy link address or something similar. Go back to the Androidforums tab and paste the address.
 
Can anyone post a download link or a new link for the mms fix file....I cannot access it via myascend.org???? Also...if needed you can flash back to the stock ROM? I am assuming you can via Clockwork but it seems when I wiped and partitioned my sd card with the instructions provided everything was wiped?

you need to register and be signed in myascend.org to get the file

@joser, is there a date/time fix, it will not let me manually adjust and its not set correctly with my network time zone
