Help how to keep resolution on Droid pics?

Hi All, Just got a Thunderbolt Droid and it takes great 8MB pics. However, when I download those to my PC, they seem to be storing in a much lower resolution format that I can't seem to improve. Is there a trick to downloading/storing those and not lose the high res?
thx!

Couple things..one, how are you downloading them to your PC? Are you sending them via e-mail, are you dropboxing them, are you connecting it and copy/paste through the cable?

I do assume you're meaning the pictures taken on the mail camera, at max resolution, as the front camera is only 1.3MP

You did mention that it seems lower res, and not file size (though for clarity, an 8 MP picture on mine usually is about a 1.8 MB file). Also, how do the pictures look on the phone itself, versus the computer screen?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to narrow ideas :)

these are all great questions.

OP, if you really are DOWNLOADING them (as in you upload them to a server, then download them from the server to your computer) there inlays your problem. picture hosting sites usually compress images when you upload them.

the best way to keep the resolution is to connect the phone to the PC, put it in usb mass storage mode, and drag the pics from the DCIM (or whatever it is called) folder on the phone to you PC. this will keep resolution. if this is what you are doing, resolution is the same, but it may not look as nice simply because you are viewing your image on a larger screen so it wont look as sharp as viewing it on the phones screen.

are you talking about actual resolution (size of photo) or how they actually LOOK (resolution as in looking sharper on the phone). For the ladder that is completely normal just due to the small screen size. Lots of my phone pics look terrible on the computer but great on the phone. If your talking resolution (size) it should transfer right over unmolested assuming your just dragging from the phone SD card after mounting.

And cuss me right now but I have to. Its not a Droid. Droid are verizon trademark branded to android phones Verizon chooses to label as such. Verizon has several android phones that are droid's (droid eris, droid incredible, droid charge, motorola droid X) and several that are not ( HTC thunderbolt, samsung galaxy s, casio commando, LG revolution ect).

LOL, bothers me sooo much. i have a guy at work that thinks his mid range samsung slider android phone is a droid. i deal with him every day so i just let this one roll off my back like i do to his "droid" comments.

I'm just at a point where it doesn't bother me. It's running Android OS, that's why they think it. And really, just because someone wants to say "no no, it's SPECIAL because we call it a Droid 'officially'" means nothing to me. Most of the time, people don't even know the difference between models, much less designations. I clarify it in simple terms and leave it at that, rather than make a debate out of something pretty insignificant.
