How can i find out if my Wilfire S is on or off??
I want too get away unnecessary apps

Do you mean, S-ON or S-OFF so you can remove/rename system apps?

Turn it off, remove the battery, then turn it on again whilst holding Volume Down. You'll be taken into a white screen (called the Bootloader or HTC call it HBOOT), and at the top it will something along the lines of "MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON/S-OFF" that will give you the info you need and if the device is rootable.

HTC have a security check which prohibits writing to what's called the NAND partition (just an area of the phones internal storage). With S-ON, you can't write to that partition, preventing the loading of custom recovery images meaning you can't install clockwork/Amon RA. This means you can't install custom ROMs. S-OFF opens the NAND partition and various other sections of the phones internals making root and installing a recovery image possible.

And what is that for a thing???
Is it a software to download or a hardware i must buy??

I have a doubt regarding XTC clip. Is it used only to unlock your phone from a network operator so that the phone can be used with any sim, or also to root and install custom ROMs and other stuffs?

Good question, i wonder about it too????

From my understanding, it will network unlock and it won't root, but it will S-OFF which will make root easier to obtain.
