How to Manually Update Droid Phone

Is there a way to manually update the Droid phone to the new version of the OS? My phone doesn't have service because I am using it for learning development only.

Sorry I wasn't aware of those forums, it is the first Motorola Droid phone.

Depends on what you mean. If you want the official update, you can't yet. However, you can root and load up Froyo now if you want.

Also, usually when the OTA update hits the first sets of phones, someone is nice enough to get the update.zip file to someone who can host it for others.
What you will want to do is to download that update.zip file on a computer, hook up your phone to the computer, and then move it to the root of your SD card.

If these steps are wrong, always look at the information in the post that will come up on how to update your phone manually instead of just waiting for Verizon to push the OTA update.
