I updated to every build without having to back anything up. None of ur settings should change. But if u want.. download astro file viewer from market place to back up ur apps. Use utility!!
 
Sorry to bother with such a newbie question. I tried searching but couldn't find an exact answer.

Will the new Froyo update for my ATT N1 delete my settings, apps, wallpaper, Launcher Pro home screens and various other little tid bits that I spent all this time trying to get just right? Or, like the title says, is it just an 'update'?:p

How and what should I back up before I update?

I've started reading about how Swype might not work with Froyo and I'm actually hesitant to update for now as I am in love with that app!:D

Nevertheless, I'm glad I'm worrying about this now instead of the 'when' will we get Froyo worries:D

Am I one of the first of the second rollout of updates? I apologize if I'm late but I got way excited and I'll report anything interesting. For one my Nexus seems faster and smoother than FRF83. But all I really did was come straight to Tapatalk and post. I'm too excited.

No steps needed at all, just update. Wont touch any of your settings or apps.

Ps. "When" is "now" the link to the update file is no secret!

New Android 2.2 Software Update for Nexus One phones

Starting today, Nexus One users will begin to receive the Android 2.2 (codenamed Froyo) over-the-air software update on their phones. This update provides some great new features including support for making your handset a portable hotspot and support for Adobe Flash within the browser. For a complete list of everything we’ve included in Android 2.2, please see the Android 2.2 Platform Highlights.

In order to access the update, you will receive a message on your phone's notification bar. Just download the update, wait for it to install, and you should be all set. This update will be rolled out gradually to phones - and most users will receive the notification by the end of the week . We hope you enjoy these new features.

I don't see anything diffrent yet except for the car doc screen changed, not sure about Apps to SD yet.

Return it. I had the same issue and eventually figured id deal with it. Well, I got a different Nexus One (replacement) because of something else and my Power button works great! Its such a big difference. Don't aggravate yourself.
 
I've never once got an OTA update on my Nexus One (purchased with no contract from Google a week after release, using T-Mobile SIM) besides the initial Update1 that had pinch to zoom.

Every other one I've had to do manually.

Odd.
 
That's hardly surprising, considering there has only been 2 official OTA updates, ERE27 and FRF85B.
 
Title says all. I did the checkin and stuff but my phone says no updates available. It is rooted, but the stock FRF83.
