Hey guys, long time lurker first time poster! I'm running Shabbymod .9 and I doubt the OS has much to do with this but the vibrator in my phone stopped working completely I've tried some trouble shooting and can't get it to spin up, I figure I better open it up and take a look inside, does anyone have any idea on how to do this??
TLDNR; vibrator broke need to open phone how do?

If you're not willing to accept the fact that it will not work at all in the end I'd suggest that you contact Samsung and get them to work out the details for you instead of trying it yourself.

Good luck.

I considered that but since installing the shabby mod .9 I'm pretty sure that voided my warranty so it's on myself to get it fixed

to be sure it's not a software problem you can odin back to stock but it sounds like you just really want to open up your phone. i'm no expert but i'm inclined to believe the vibrator is not a serviceable part. that said, when you open it take pics. i'm curious too.:)

yeah I'm gonna start tearing in apart I'll let you know how it goes!

If you Odin back to ee13 then you've returned to stock. Samsung wont be able to tell what's been done with the phone. You can return it back to Samsung for warranty service no problems. I did exactly that. Used to have CWM with HK1.2 and the phone started rebooting at random. Odined back to ee13 kept the phone for a day to make sure it was still doing it. Called Samsung got the phone sent to them and back. No problems.

Dont get me wrong. I'm as interested as the next guy to see the internals of this device and advice about how to go about taking it apart. But I'm in no condition to come up with a non functioning device and I'm assuming most others are too.

If the vibrate is not working you'll probably not be able to "fix" it. Just have to replace it with a working motor. The motors on these things are very small.

Good luck.

PS: I transferred my service to my older phone during the period of the repair service. Took about 15 days total.

OK. Now that its definitely out of warrant send us the porno pics... urm. I mean pictures of the internals. And dont forget to write up how you went about doing things. Everything is important. What you did. What you didn't do. What you wish you did.

We're salivating.... I mean waiting.

don't remove the display screen from the digitizer, unless your replacing ether of them. dust and lint is a pain to keep out of there. be careful with the ribbon wire make sure you pop the plastic compression pieces before pulling, if you need any help feel free to pm me. Ive already had one apart back in July to remove water and had to remove everything to dry it out.

I dropped mine in water too. I just opened it up. All the guts have a white moss/ powder. i was told ethanol alcohol and isopropyl are good for cleaning.
but i think getting the circuit board cleaned by a pro is well worth the extra cash instead of risking it.

for anyone looking to pop it open, open it from the right side, there are little openings on the plastic that you can pop a small screw driver into. Also the ribbon is on the left.

there 6 screws in the back and then the screen ribbon on the left inside before you pull it up disconect the ribbon from the screen you got to pop out the blk in side piecce that the screw held down(6) and the rest should come out you got to be easy touch screen samsung prevail ,,dis assembly

I had mine apart, but had no way to take pics. They are quite simple to disassemble. You must be slow and careful as not to damage the plastic clips. And yes there are only 6 screws, the rest is plastic clips. When you get the pcb loose, there is double sided tape holding the speaker to the front at the top of the phone. The vibrator motor is so small I had to use a magnifying glass to really see it.
with it apart, I don't think you'll be able to test the motor. I could be wrong.
