Help How to paste text into Google Drive document

I am trying to paste some text into a Google Drive document on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. I am expecting to do this in one or more ways. The following does not work for some unknown reason:

1. Tap and hold in the text area. Expect to see a "Paste" button show up somewhere but none shows up.

2. While typing using the onscreen keyboard, tapping the button on the bottom right end of the keyboard is a no-op, when I expected it to bring up a selector to choose a clip.

Is this a bug? Is there a incompatibility between Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and the Google Drive app?

I do not think that is true since my edits are showing up on the document as viewed by another person on a separate (non-tablet) computer.

Did I not mention Google Drive app in the process? Are you comparing Google Drive app on your PC o the one on your Android tablet, really?
