Root *How to permanent root HTC Desire*

Hi.
I have rooted my HTC Desire with "UnrEVOked."
But I want to permanent root my HTC Desire... Anyone who know a good, and easy program, to do this? :-)

What's the different of a permanent root, and a temporary root?

Can I change my boot animation on the stock HTC Desire ROM?
If I can access the folder where the stock boot animation is, can I do it then? - And what folder is it? :-)

Thanls for your help!!!!

Emilronnow :-)

Unrevoked is the only perm root for the desire

Temp root is lost at reboot. You cannot flash roms.

You can but only with adb if you are S-ON. Its in /system/media/ but you cannot access system when android is running unless you use alpharev to s-off.

How can I get on s-off? :-)
Thanks for your answer :-)

In my signature there is a link to a rooting faq. There is a section about s-off. You just download the iso file to cd and boot your pc up with it in your drive. Then you follow the on screen instructions

Or a bootable memory stick. Either way it needs to ne bootable as the pc needs to be in Linux to run the utility. It is a one click solution though

I have read a little bit about it...
But when my HTC Desire is s-off, what can I do?
What can I use a s-off Desire to? :-)

Delete system apps, repartition the internal memory...

It maybe.not worth it. If you want to remove system apps, follow the guide I wrote linked in my Sig

this guy just needs to read.
im sorry but the demeanour spells disaster waiting to happen

hes already perm rooted and didnt realise?
he wants s-off but doesnt know why

please us the guides and read them thoroughly
I and many others do not want to be remotely responsible for your shortcomings should it fail and brick your device due to lack of understanding and knowledge

He should spend a bit of time reading up on why, how and when people root. Doing it just to change your boot animation is a bit superfluous. Solving the problem of internal memory on the other hand is worth all the hassle of getting informed.

He can use the adb and fastboot faq to work out how to adb push a boot animation to /system/media/

I just created this (linked in my sig). Doesn't require s-off :)

There isn't stading anything about how to change boot animation on stock rom? does there? :-)

It's an faq. It tells you how to use adb. Earlier in this thread, I even mentioned you need to adb push the boot animation and the location to push it too

You just need to use common sense and combine the two ;)
