Root how to permanently uninstall clockworkmod recover from droid x

okay every time i boot the phone it always prompts the clockwork mod and every time i click reboot is there a way to permanently uninstall clockwork mod???! i want an serious answer this on a droid x
 
Gonna move this to the root section so you get a better response considering you have to be rooted to use clockwork.
 
If I reboot my phone while plugged into a charger, Clockwork Mod Recovery comes up. Otherwise, if I reboot my phone it reboots normally. Could that be the case in your situation?
 
SFWB that is normal. Booting into CWR while plugged into the wall charger was a failsafe built into bootstrap. Kevin go into bootstrap on your phone and click "bootstrap recovery" but do not click "reboot recovery". Power you phone off and on like normal. This should stop it from loading CWR on the first boot.
 
i did try bootstrap then i reboot the phone it goes away but then the next time i reboot with out clicking boot strap it comes back to CWR in the boot and i did try a factory reset and it was still on the phone any other way?
 
Kevin what are you running? Froyo or GB? And what apps do you have on your phone? Sometimes an app that doesn't like to run on your phone properly can cause this. Do you have titanium backup? If you do use this to remove bootstrap. By the way. Which bootstrap are you using? Dx or d2?

Froyo should be using dx bootstrap with usb debugging turned off.
Gingerbread should be running d2 bootstrap. Usb debugging on or off, doesn't matter.
 
To remove CWM you can delete /system/bin/hijack and /system/bin/logwrapper

Then rename /system/bin/logwrapper.bin to /system/bin/logwrapper.

At least this is how it was on froyo. will probably hold true for GB.
 
aggie where do you go to do that?

cougar i am running on froyo i just removed root from phone and bootstraap for dx
 
Hello Kevin 123, i was wondering if you got an answer on an easy way to remove clockworkmod. I keep getting install fail message from trying to update my droid x to the new version and I believe the clockworkmod is preventing the installation

I have a Droid X, That was rooted, I then ended up unrooting it, and wipe it completely, and starting from scratch. Only problem is I can't get the Over the Air update of the new Gingerbread because when it's downloaded and starts to install it restarts then goes into clockworkmod, and stops, when I do reboot now from CWM, and the phone restarts it says update failed. I've downloaded a Root Explorer, File Expert, and re-rooted my phone but everytime I try to delete /system/bin/hijack and logwrapper, it just sits there starting at me, and if try to rename logwrapper.bin to logwrapper it says "Error: Could not rename" I don't know all that much about this stuff but any help would be extermely appreciated. Thanks!
 
I've tried this but didn't work. First off I have a Droid X, when I do the "mount" command it just shows the options for mount and doesn't execute. Next I just tried to chmod 777, but it's a read-only file system and won't let me. Any help would be awesome this is driving me crazy, I just want me Droid Back

Uninstall Droid X Bootstrapper (Settings -> Applications-> manage applications)
Reboot

$ su
$ mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
$ cp /system/bin/logwrapper.bin /system/bin/logwrapper
$ reboot

Took forever to find this simple solution and it worked for me on froyo now hopefully GB will install.

I used root explorer (well worth the 3.99 on the market) to delete and rename the files as Aggie12 explained.

I then unrooted with Z4 and uninstalled it and boot strap.
