Root How to pull an APK from a Rom?

Hi Guys, I had a question. I want to pull an app from Rom and put it into mine thats on the phone.

Can I just extract it with 7zip and then put it into place on my phone then set permissions?

Most apps you can just grab out of a rom using 7zip and just run installer from your sd card and they work fine. It depends on the app though.

I was trying to move a Google Wallet app to the Rom I'm currently running.

I pulled it from one and using ESfile explorer I copied it into System/app and changed the permissions to RW-R-R. Rebooted and it worked. That was my first time doing that.

Last week I found an app I wanted to move to my rom but it wouldn't work. Not sure why.

this is the same way you will move the PA app to pacman as well.....just an fyi

Depending on the app, sometimes there are more than one .apk that needs copied to make it work. Especially true for Sense stuffs. Downloadable apps from the market "should" work by extracting the .apk from the current rom with 7zip (or equivalent archive app) and inserting the app into the new rom before flashing. I'll give this a try next time I flash a rom.
