Help How to reduce emaul folder

I am always going in to manage my app by clearing the data to help with memory. My email folder is 71mb....I keep going into my email to delete them out but the file size never falls below the 71mb...is there anything you can do to reduce this size

Are you able to clear data or is it grayed out?
