on a computer? take the hd out and hook it in to an external drive reader and plug in to another computer so its seen as an external drive....then right click/format.

Thax Faber78, for your help, I do not have a card reader though. Is thier any other way to reformat the Hard Drive with out taking out of the computer.

hmmmm....beats me....lol....
hopefully someone with a little more cpu experience can chime in here and help ya out....

If you are talking about a standard PC, download a copy of ubuntu, run it from the CD, and you can mount the hard drive and format it any way you like... Fat... Fat32.... NTFS.... EXT.... ect....

Well, if you are going to install another operating system on it, that operating system disk should have an option to format the disk before installation.
Or, if you have a working pc with internet and a cd/dvd burner, you could download a linux live cd/dvd (from distrowatch.com or similar) and boot to the cd/dvd and use gparted to delete the existing partition and create a new partition. Or, just install linux and go with that (I use linux on all my pc's). You should try Ultimate Edition, Mint both are user friendly and decent for everyday use.

Haha, trav473 beat me to it.

i used to erase hard drives with jumpers on the backs...it's been a while tho so i'm not sure what you are working with. if there are jumpers, just move to the setting shown on the hard drive that says wipe or erase. after setting jumpers, it should wipe the drive on startup.

Yes It is working I able to load windows on it. I just need a operating system I am more familiar with, I do try to look at Ubuntu but human nature goes more with what we know.

Thank Again all you good people.
