Root How to remove clockworkrmod from unrooted Samsung Epic

I am technologically challenged. I thought I rooted my phone, not sure if I did or didn't, then tried unrooting and deleting superuser. Did that, at least I think so, but now I can't do the gingerbread update due to clockworkmod. I want to get rid of it, and make my phone like it was when I bought it. Please help!
