When I begin to type in an email address, the drop down menu tries to help. But I notice it has stored the email address of every email I have received. There must be hundreds in the phone, 90% are spam or garbage. I have gone to email-settings-manage address history where it shows me every address that has been stored. But the only way to delete the unwanted addresses is to long click on the addresses and click on delete. But I would have to delete hundreds of addresses this way, which would take forever, and as soon as I start receiving emails again, the addresses will continue to be stored. Is there any way to delete the unwanted addresses quickly, like with check boxes and, more importantly, to set the Atrix not to store any more addresses? Thanks

Android users have been asking for an easy way to clear the auto-complete list in the email apps for a long time now.
There are a few suggestions here: How do you Delete Autofill Email Contacts?
I've yet to find anything, on any Android, other than force stopping the email app, clearing data, and then re-setting up the account. That's a pain in the butt.
If you want to research it further, make sure you don't limit the results to the Atrix. This is an Android OS issue, not limited to the one device. So, I was searching for "Clear Android Email Auto-Complete list" with Google.

Thanks for your reply. I called ATT last night and was forwarded to Motorola Atrix support. The answer is that there is no answer. The tech said there is no current way to delete unwanted addresses en mass and to select for non-storage of received email addresses. She did say she will forward this problem to programming for a possible repair in a future upgrade. Oh well. If this is my biggest problem, I ain't got no problems, right?

I really don't think there is anything Motorola can do with their programming as this ties back to the core of the Android OS.
I have the same problem with my ViewSonic Tablet.
We'll see. I've gotten used to crap email addy's in the auto-complete field after years of using MS Outlook for our work emails.

on a desktop, you can go into your gmail contacts and delete them all (really doesn't take that long), then change your gmail settings so as not to add those contacts back in. It can be done. You can google it for details. I did it when I first got my Atrix back in March. Hasn't been a problem since.

Evil - that might work for the gmail app. But it does nothing to help with the stock mail app. Some of us use the phone for more than Gmail. I have my Gmail, 2 work (Exchange) accounts and a Yahoo account.
