Root How to remove the recovery flash that ROM manager did?

axe97

Newbie
So i just got my DX, and just got into the whole rooting and android scene. Ive got everything working, for the most part, straight off of a 2.3.340 OTA. anyways, ive bought droid X bootstrapper, and whenever i boot i get to Clockworkmod 2.5.0.6. then i got rom manager, and it flashed something to my droid and that boots to 2.5.0.7. im confused on what it flashed in the first place, since i already had droid x bootstrapper. is there anyway to remove what rom manager did? i tried using my old nandroid backup, but its still installed/flashed. any ideas?

also, what is the difference between a regular full SBF and the .340 system only sbf? should i be ok since i rooted straight from a 2.2.1/.340 droid?

thanks

If you hose your X and need to sbf, there's a good chance you'll need the full sbf (320). 340 is a system-only sbf so suitable for upgrading, but not necessarily major repair.

If you open rom manager and go to manage backups and tap a backup, you'll have options to restore, rename or delete.

Rom manager is just a front-end for bootstrap so they both use the same recovery. If it works, I'd leave it as-is.

Why go that direction Colchiro has given the best advice. SBF to .320 then .340 system only and you are up to date.

As for ROM Manager, that program has not been that great in my opinion. I would use Bootstrap and follow direction in clockwork recovery.

Once you get to 320 or 340, it's not safe to go back to an older version, unless you want an expensive paperweight.

So wait, it is okay to sbf down to .320 while on .340? Just not going lower than that, correct? I'm in a similar situation is why I ask.

i would like to know this^^^ as well. I want to get my phone back to 100% stock OTA, just like it was before i rooted, if thats possible. Can i SBF to 2.2 and do an OTA update to .340, or will it not let me?

Correct.

Depends on your bootloader version and current system version. This might answer your questions. Last I checked, the links worked. http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/232866-sbfing-back-2-2-a.html

The .340 sbf can be flashed if someone bricks by going to an older version.

I hope to never be in a position to need to find out if this works. :D
