Help How to restore factory settings on the Samsung Galaxy Note

I'm Doing the restore thing:

Can someone tell me about how long this process takes to complete?

I pulled the battery and then held down the start/on-off button and got into the menu to put everything back to its default mode but after about 2 1/2 hrs its still at the "Android" splash screen with a message saying :

DOWNLOADING...
Do Not Turn Off Target

You're in the downloading mode, not the factory reset mode. Exactly what is it that you want to do - wipe off everything you've put into the phone since you got it (factory reset) or install a new ROM (download)?

Never mind, I got it! I did a restore and now even though its not jelly bean or whatever it runs smoothly again!
