Root How to Root 2.2.1 frg83d?

Can someone please tell me how to easily root a 2.2.1 Droid?
i tried superoneclick but it just seems to freeze at "waiting for device..."
my usb debugging is on and i have net frame 2.0+ installed but it just keeps freezing. Is there a fix for this? or any other way to root my frg83d droid?

I'm not up to date on how one-click rooting works. I still like RSD Lite the best. But I believe z4root is the new one everyone's using and it's in the Market.

But just saying, the fact that there's always "new ones" should say something about one-click root and its robustness. RSD Lite has been a perfectly good solution since December 2009.

It should. I saw a post on droid life saying that it works on droid x with 2.2.1 so it should work on droid since model doesn't really matter in this situation just android version.

2.2.1 is barely even an update, I doubt anything working on 2.2 would be broken in 2.2.1.

I had 2.2 and a rooted phone, I upgraded to 2.2.1 when I got the ota message and now my root is broken and nothing that requires root works. Just a heads up.

Nice try, but it didn't quite give the result you were looking for. Maybe this is along the lines of what you were thinking?:

Root the A855 without RSD Lite + make it ROM ready

That's one way and the RSD Lite 4.6 method one is still the foolproof way, but make sure you only use this guide here:

Two good methods, albiet quite the non 'one click' nor 'easy'.

I used soup or root and it worked flawlessly. the easy root did not.

Easy root stopped working when we went from FRG01B to FRG22D.

Soup or Root 2.04 Beta - I used this on my original Droid 1 with 2.2.1 FRG83D. After two tries, it worked like a champ. I was then able to use setCPU and Barnacle WiFi tether. Soup or Root is sooooo easy to use!
