Help How to Root and Where download firmware?

Ok, I'm trying to figure out how to root my Samsung SM-T820 tablet. I just noticed a few days ago it's running Android 7 and figure I should see if I can get it up to Android 9 or 10. I found instructions on how to root it. The instructions say to go to sammobile.com and download the firmware. But, when I go to the website and click on firmware and select sm-t820, I then need to pick a country. I live in the USA. It's not listed... It's not listed as USA or United States. How could they forget about a huge country like us? I figure I must be overlooking something.

sammobile is for firmware updates only. it is a place where you can get updates to your device if you need one. if there are no updates for your specific device then you wll not see any more advanced android os firmware for it.

rooting is a completely different process and you need to do some research before taking the plunge into rooting it.....because there are risks involved.

also do you have the tab s2 or s3? sm-t820 is for the tab s3
 
Ok, so I messed it up and I'm stuck. I tried to flash an Android 10 image to the tablet from Lineage. It keeps getting stuck on this upside down blue arch with a circle going left. So, be honest, I don't remember which site I got the android 9 image from yesterday. I'm thinking, when I copied the zip file to the tablet, I must've moved it. I can't find it in my downloads in my browser either. So, I'm having a hard time getting it to work again. Does anyone know where I can download an AOSP image for the SM-T820 that I can flash with TWRP?

Well, I'm trying to take good notes of what I'm doing now. I used Odin to get it back working. It's still running Android 9, but it's not rooted.
 
so, right now, i've been struggling for a while to get the tablet to show up under fastboot. it just doesn't see it. The tablet is in downloading mode. Any ideas?
