that is ok. on most evo's in the bootloader it will list the radios(baseband). it might list it in the "about phone" option in your phone's settings. but that info is not really needed based on the guide i linked earlier. the guide will show you how to unlock the bootloader, get recovery, and lastly how to flash the su file. once you do all that then you will be fully rooted.
now as far as custom roms go........there is not any as this particular evo does not really have any support. there is a possibility that you can flash any of the evo 3d roms that are out there, but i'm not 100% sure on that. custom roms are device specific, but your phone is closer to the evo 3d then the og evo i believe.......your call.
and lastly if you plan on deleting any bloatware make sure that you make a nandroid backup. you will need to do this in recovery. once you are rooted, we can walk you how to do it, if you do not know how.
