I just got got my LG Volt the other day and tried this method. To my surprise it worked and was extremely painless.

The only thing I did differently was downloaded the KingRoot apk directly from their site ( http://kingroot.net/down ). I then transferred it to my phone via USB and proceeded with bradleyplays steps 8 - 13.

Edit: Well, it runs a "KingUser" app that if you disable you lose root access. I thought it'd just root me and then I could uninstall the KingUser app but you can't. Not sure how I feel about it...

I did a factory reset because I wasn't comfortable with having that Chinese stuff behind the scenes. I can't be sure if it's sending HTTP requests or anything fishy.

Edit: Cripes, the factory reset doesn't wipe it. =\ Oh well...

It dose work but keep king user and dont unroot and you need to go online and download root browser go on root browser click etc file scroll down to hosts hold down on hosts scroll down click open in text editor put a # in front of the second ip adress the click save and quit and if you dont it will not thet you sign in to google play or youtube but only do this when you restart your phone i deleted root and almost couldnt reroot and got it back on my phone and had to do my steps on root browser

I think Version 4 is the only working root on the king root app i tried outher versions of king root and had no luck with rooting so version 4 might be the only method that you can use for rooting but i havent checked

I think i really out done myself im (young)
And did somthing that no one has yet to find but alot of pepol say they use kingroot to root lg volt ans they leave a download link to a bad version that dosent work so i dont know how they do it ?????

Yea i wiped my phone 3 times already beacuse i thought root messed up my sign in stuff so i went on.youtube and found out what the problem was myself

Dang you need to hook up to a computer to use kingo root too bad it didn't just root you out of the app without a computer. I've heard kingo root got blocked from xda because of privacy issues. Is it safe to use or does it still have privacy issues with running some of youre information off the servers it uses

It's not to be trusted. There are 4 options for safely rooting in the guide stickied here.

Danggit... So I guess when I factory reset my phone I lost Root capability but still have King User on there. And the DPTools and LG One Click Root methods will not root my phone now. I tried installing King Root again so that I could try to get the King User app back to uninstall, but it won't.

I just want my phone back the way it was so I can do this properly. :(

Do you have TWRP installed? You can install the zv5 ROM. Otherwise, you might have to use the old rooting guide to revert back to zv3 and start over.

I don't have TWRP installed unfortunately, just the factory recovery. I've started the old rooting method; about to do the flash part. Crossing my fingers! :D

Whew, I installed V3 using the guide, then used LG Oneclick method to finish it off. I now have root access the proper way! Thanks! :D
