Root How to root Samsung Stellar

I'm new here so please excuse my ignorance.
I have a rooted Stellar -verified with root checker.
I have 'phone info' app and tried changing the preferred network from LTE to any other one but it jumps right back. I also tried to change the MSID using *772 which also jumps right back.
My objective? I want to use this phone with page plus [a non-Verizon CDMA provider]. I'm not even sure that for Page Plus I need a full unlock because it uses the Verizon network.
I wouldn't mind having the phone fully unlocked as well and be able to use with any wireless provider.
Can anyone guide me for my next steps and or provide me with additional information? Thanks!

have you attempted to got to this sp and see if they offer a flashing service? right now, the lte seems to bounce back on at its own free will. devs are working to get through the bootloader, once done, they can do anything...

Hye, I tried it and rooted my phone successfully, next day I restarted my phone and IT WONT TURN ON. there is NO reponse not even the verizon logo. when I connect it with the computer I just hear connection and disconnection sounds...
I am so worried and I need help for this please.

you may also try a reset. pull battery, replace, press vol down home button and power at the same time.

i have followed the guide but cant get my phone to root.it sits at Waiting for device to connect, and does nothing else. please help

pretty much the main cause of this would be you don't have all of the drivers installed. double and triple check the forum/guide for any links.
also, it apparently cannot be stressed enough, so i must reiterate, read enough to know what you are doing before you attempt any modifications to your device(s). what once was a nice working phone can very quickly become a paper weight.

if a samsung screen appears, you can use this thread to attempt to recover your phone. if absolutely nothing happens, even after attempting to reset phone as i described above, you recently purchased a paper weight.
(1)if you file a claim or pay out of pocket to get this device again, don't re-root.
(2)if you re-root, don't attempt to do whatever it was you did this last time. and before you even try, read, read, read.
(3)if you don't follow advise from (2), stop at (1)

Finally after weeks of being busy I got my phone rooted! 
I got Windows on my Linux machine and tried at first but then Windows (just like my Mac) wasn't detecting my phone at all, though it detected my bf's. So I called Verizon and after doing all this crap in the end the simplest solution was for my to take the battery out for 30 secs... which fixed it
duh haha.
But anyways got it rooted using the windows guide, but after Windows was able to detect my phone, the Mac could too, so I'm assuming it was just a me issue, and maybe an app I had installed (I had a couple different file managers and deleted them all). But yea, thanks!

I have done this and phone is still the same as it was and my touch screen does not work. im stuck at lock screen,apps load and update but when i swipe my finger to open it nothing happens

Most common cause of not getting root to work is not having the development boxes checked off. However, you seem to be having touchscreen issues which will prevent you from being able to do anything. First try a battery pull (pull battery and leave out for about 1 minute), check to see if screen works, if not try a hard reset, should be
while power is off) hold volume down home and power at the same time, if this fails, try with volume up (I always get these confused). This should erase all data on your phone and return it to out of the box condition. If this works then go to settings / developer options and check off usb debugging and allow mock location then proceed with root attempt. If the hard reset did not fix touchscreen, consider the phone a loss and return to Verizon under warranty.nemezis4033

what i was tryimg to say is im trying to odin back to stock. and even though im in download mode nothing is being written to the phone, it just stays the same.new phone on its way.on another note the touchscreen not working could be a result of my 5yr old throwing the phone

I'm probably in the wrong place for this and I apologize in advance. I've had the stellar for a few months now, but I'm wondering if there is some way I can move applications to the external sd card without rooting the phone. I'm no developer and the learning curve on this stuff... Well, it's a bit over my head. If there's no way to do it, I'll just deal lol I tried some 'app to sd' apps but they say they sd card is emulated? I understand, but I don't totally grasp it.
There is no way without root. The best you can do without root is to manually move things like pictures or movies over to the sdcard using a file browser. Your apps, though, are stuck where they are. This is part of the change in Android, where they're trying to blur or eliminate the differences between types of storage.
I don't like it myself, but I also have no fear in messing with my phone. Since it's a Samsung, it's very hard to brick as long as you have the right tools.

Just had this issue after paying for Spotify. Samsung messed something up so none of the apps on Google Play (as far as I could tell) will not let you move apps to the sd card ( even with root). Soooo... to move items to root you need to first root your phone, use the easy root I posted originally ( I probably need to update it). Second, install this app DirectoryBind and then set it up like they have it.

Hi everyone. I have read this and many other threads about unbricking the stellar but I can't seem to get into Download mode to use Odin. I can get into recovery but on the bottom in yellow it says Manual mode. I have tried holding volume up and power, holding home volume and power, holding volume up and down while plugging in the usb cable and just about every combination and timing. I have tried usb drivers from all sources and with all of them I can find the phone in ADB while in recovery mode. I had Kies installed for a while and Kies always recognized the phone it just didn't finish connecting. With any or all of these combinations Odin 3.04 or 3.07 Just don't ever recognize my phone. I am on a windows 7 dell laptop and I have tried all of the USB ports. I don't understand why it seems to have no problem with everything but Odin. Any thoughts? Am I just missing something?
Hold down home, vol down and power until the big android shows up. It'll tell you to hit either up or down to cancel or go into download mode. Can't remember which is which.

I may have screwed up my phone but not sure. Followed the steps outlined in the first post, on step 7 I made sure Super User was there but didn't update (could be problem).
From there installed Clockwork MOD and installed the Recovery for the Galaxy S3 (again most likely a stupid thing on my part).
Once that was running I downloaded and installed the cygnamod 10.0 without any issues.
Now my problem is my phone will boot to the lock screen but there is no touch enabled (can't unlock).
Also can't seem to find a way to boot into recovery mode (if I hold the power and Volume + button it looks to start but turns off).
Anyone have any Ideas on how to fix or am I screwed> Thanks!
