Apps How to Root the G1

Hallo every body ,
I want to root the G1 ,and install or delete the Apk on it , i have use the apk term to get access ! but wenn i write ervery thing ,i get the Message "permission denied " .....and thats for the Commands (sudo, cd, rm, ls ....etc) ,,,,,, is there some body how kann help to root the G1 ????

Anyone familiar with xda-developers will be able to do this no problem, but I'm also writing up a full guide on going from OTA RC30 to a custom JF RC30 with dev bootloader.

Devolio, the timid among us are still waiting for the You(guru) to hold our hands step by step .... and have you moved all your apps to the SD for loading from it and free-up the phone's memory ... if so does it make an appreciable difference in operating speed of the phone ?

I'm new to all of this... what do you want to do by rooting and installing and deleting the apk? what will this do?... what is apk?
