Root how to save a custom rom?

This might sound stupid but I don't understand how to do this.

I rooted and flashed the AOKP Jellybean rom, took a few times because I keep messing up, but I finally have it working great.

Is there a way for me to save it as a zip like the original which has everything I have added and taken out so if the cell crashes I can just flash the current rom?

thanks in advanced

you technically can, but the best thing to do would be to boot into recovery and perform a backup from there, it will backup the current rom as is, including all data, apps etc. If you are worried about losing it you can always hook the phone up to a computer and backup the folder on your pc.

Thanks, I just thought I could save it as a zip on the external sd, like the original mod is because when trying to recover if you first have to reflash the original, backups tend to screw up and not work, in my experiences.

If anything, I will just readd everything over again, its not that difficult, specially since play store remembers your apps and the external sd has my others

you can also use an application such as titanium backup to backup your apps, so if you ever re flash the rom you can restore the applications.

true, whats odd is the back up I made in CWM went to the external sd, I didnt know that was possible.

I might reflash the original, then try to restore the back up and see what happens, I read a thread on how to do it properly so it wont bootloop.

Still wish I could just save the whole rom as a new rom or w/e, guess I have to learn how, lol

people's experiences have been different, for me personally i've never had any issue backing up or restoring anything, other people as well. But many people do have problem. One thing to learn is that just because we all have the same device, not all devices are made the same.

exactly.

I do think though, if people that flashed the elite with a custom mod, first did a system recovery with this method of unbricking it, even if it isnt bricked, it might work better.

I am having zero issues with the AOKP, wish I could donate to them, they did a wonderful job.

remind you, I am new to flashing phones, but I have flashed it a few times and when I finally did it from a complete fresh stock version, it really works flawlessly now
