I switched from an Evo 4G to Apple iPhone5, and want to recycle my Evo, but there are dozens of voicemails and text msgs on it, that I would like to save as digital files I can access on my home computer, in other words to archive them. eg voicemails from someone who is no longer alive. I do NOT want to move these voicemails and msgs to my iPhone.
Sprint tech support says this is impossible. My Evo is not connected to the Sprint network any longer and the voicemails are stored on the network. But...then why can I listen to them on my Evo that is not connected to any service? When the Evo was connected to Sprint service, I was told the voicemails were available as digital audio files (mp3s/aiff's? I forget) somewhere, but I never retrieved them.
Seems to me that means they are on the flash memory on the phone itself. Certainly they exist as digital files I could grab from somewhere if I can listen to them on my Evo now without Sprint service.
I could hold the iPhone to the Evo and record them analog - but that would suck the quality out - only as a last resort.
The text msgs - they told me I could fwd. each one to my email. But I don't have service on the Evo so no I can't. I'd like to save the msgs by thread - not just individual msgs.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction
