Root How to set up ViperFx (Beats Audio) for the Volt

Feast your ears on this! :D

Want working beats audio on your Volt? Follow these easy steps.

1.Go to xda and scoop up the ViperFx .zip and extract it somewhere easy to find. I used my ext_sd root folder. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223 be sure to thank ViPER520, Zhuang and buy them a beer if you are able.

2.locate the ViperFx 4.4 .apk and install it like a boss.

3.Once you have ViperFX installed open it up like you've been deaf your whole life and you know your about to hear for the first time. Open the settings panel and choose to install the driver and select High Quality Audio. Do not run in compatiablity mode, just install normally.

4.Reboot

5.Open ViperFX back up and check driver status which should now version 2.3.3.0 and set to active, DO NOT USE IT YET!

6.Install either Rom Toolbox or Titanium Backup or any other app that will allow you to convert user apps to system apps. Open the app you like and covert ViperFX to a system app.

7.Reboot.

8.Open ViperFx control panel and activate it. It's the first option to tick and select any other options you want to use to shatter your eardrums.

9. Open your favorite music app and double check it is using viperFX as the equalizer.

10.(optional) If you use gravitybox and you go into media options you can add 15 volume steps to your device and that makes both headphone and speaker volumes levels far higher than before.

Enjoy! :D

I installed this once... It didn't seem to make much of a difference, but I don't recall if I made it a system app. Might try it again.

It won't work well at all as a user app, but as a system app its perfect. Even with a $5 pair of headphones everything sounds really nice. Especially with the bass and clarity all the way up :)

Which driver did you choose? "Super audio quality", "High audio quality", or "Power Saving"?
After I installed driver and reboot, I checked driver status and it says "Driver Version: 0.0.0.0". Is this right? Thanks.

I usually use the High audio quality myself, your driver should be 2.3.3.0 Hope this helps and thank you for the feedback :)

You are incorrect, good sir. I've only ever used it as a user app. It has a definite effect on my music quality, but sometimes has force close issues. Never thought of making it a system app, so i will try that and see if there's an improvement.

When I said it wouldn't work well as a user app I meant it acts flaky as one on my volt, it FC's for me as well as volume jumps too. As soon as I converted it to system it has been stable and sounding great since. I've been using it as system with CyanogenMod since yesterday and I have no complaints :)

ViperFX works fine, it's my brain that's not working today, I'm in the pre coffee stage right now LOL once I wake up my posts will make more sense although I don't plan on saying much more on the forums

Sands after installing as system app it's behaving wonderfully! Thank you for that tip. Btw, do you ever need to use the force option, and if you do, how much of a hog on your battery is it? I've always needed it before and my battery life crashes hard

Glad to hear it's working for you too :)
No, forcing v4a will definitely cause battery drain because if the driver is already loaded and you choose to force it it's like doubling up on resources when it's really not needed to do so since converting this app to system is the key how it behaves :) I forgot to put this in the OP but if you use gravitybox and you go into media options you can add 15 volume steps to your device and that makes both headphone and speaker volumes levels far higher than before.

Im using eXtremeBeats v3.0 Cadence sounds pretty good on our phones just thought i would let the Volt users know about it here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2634729
Flashing that and using Viper Fx very good combination.
Umm... I'm confused. I installed it (flashed with recovery and wiped cache/dalvik) but I don't see it listed in my apps. Is there no ui and it works automatically? Or did I do something wrong?

I'm using it now with the new viper profiles, it's working great :)
I can't find the profiles folder, or even the viper folder, to download and install the ones in the xda thread. I made viper a system app but I didn't find it when looking through /system

Check in your root internal sd folder, it was the last place I looked too. The profiles for viper fx are stored in there, just extract the viperfx profiles zip from the xda thread in there. There is a download for the flashable .zip on the page as well as a seperate .zip for the new profiles.
