How to sideload apps into the atrix 4g

and what apps would one want to sideload.

I am not looking for a discussion about where to find pirated apps. but rather is there legitimate need to sideload certain apps not available from the market place?

If so any good sources for these types of apps?

If you develop your own apps, then the source is you!

Most people aren't professional devs, but Android is a great place to start learning at the enthusiast / hobbyist level. I love making shitty little apps, even if they are only for me :)

Google even gives you all the tools, lessons, and everything else you'll need to make apps for free. It's not exactly real development / real coding, but it's fun, useful, and incredibly cool. Check it out!

There are a number of reasons you'd want to side load apps. One for me is being beta testers for various applications. The developers, usually over at XDA, posts their apps which they have not released on the market yet. Some developers that are not cannot sell their apps on the market due to country restriction will have a light version on the market and a paid full ad free version on their website. There are other reasons but I can't think of them on the top of my head but you get the idea ;)

Beta testing is my #1 reason for side loading. But, there are great apps in xda-developers that for one reason or another don't make it to the Market.

You can always use adb from the SDK to load apps on your stock device. It works fine, but I find it inconvenient to hunt down the USB cable every time I need to test something. Much easier to download directly or wifi it on to the card.
