Help How to solve error: "Unfortunately, the process.android.process.acore has stopped..."

drhome8

Lurker
I had this technical booting error message on my Samsung Note 3 N9005 (16GB internal memory with 64GB external SD memory) after downloading about 12GB of documents via online educational providers.

Problem 1:
- A display with the wordings "Unfortunately, the process.android.process.acore has stopped..." appeared every 5 seconds on the phone and then after about 30 seconds, the phone restarted/rebooted itself without further warning. On restarting/rebooting, the phone displayed the same message again and appeared every 5 seconds on the phone and then after about 30 seconds, the phone restarted/rebooted itself without further warning.

- This situation went in a few cycles without stopping until I pressed the phone OFF button for several seconds for the phone to turn off.

Problem 2:
- I went to my phone/data service provider and they quoted an equivalent of USD75 for sending the phone back to their technical office/factory for "system checking and investigation" and as a last resort for "resetting to factory" mode. If there are parts to be changed inside the phone, I would have to pay for the market/retail price of those parts.

Solutions:
I thought that the USD75 is too much just for "system checking and investigation" and as a last resort for "resetting to factory" mode. So, I went to my cousin who is a tech guy and he solved the phone problem in less than 1 hour! Unfortunately, all the data is lost and the phone was returned to the factory mode.

Here's the trick if you have similar/same technical problems and do not mind losing the data on your phone. The procedures below will remove the display errors and at the same time perform a total reset on your phone back to its factory mode i.e. re-format your phone and erase all data.

PROCEDURES:

1. Switch OFF the phone in the manner that you do normally (NOT restarting the phone)
2. Press DOWN the HOME button, VOLUME UP button while at the same time press DOWN the POWER button UNTIL YOU SEE THE ANDROID LOGO APPEARS [Yes, pressing down the 3 buttons all at the same time and at once for about 3-5 seconds till you see the android logo appears]
3. Press the VOLUME button to move up and down
4. Press the POWER button to SELECT the options given on the display
4. Press "wipe data / factory reset" option
5. After the phone has COMPLETED "wipe data / factory reset" (phone will display this information below the options given)
6. Press "reboot phone"
7. Once phone reboot/restart, you will see that the display is return to the factory mode and you will have to reconfigure the phone setting for personalization again i.e. date, time, wifi, internet, email account setting etc.

Hope all this information helps in your situation!

Good luck and good health,
Andy

Sorry u had to do factory reset. I had the same problem on my Galaxy Note 2. I refused to lose all my data. Here is a fix and that message popped up every 2-3 seconds. So I had to press buttons quickly:
Go to SETTINGS
then to: APPLICATION MANAGER
slide over to: ALL
scroll down to: CONTACTS STORAGE
CLEAR ALL DATA.
problem should be fixed.

Thank you so much for the trick. I have stopped the error message without wiping all of my data.

Hi,

That seems like a simple solution. With the error message popping up ever two to three seconds how did you perform each step?

Ahead of time thanks.

Scott

Ok, After an update of some apps (I forgot which ones), My Note 3 worked fine. It wasn't until I rebooted the phone and now I'm getting "unfortunately the process android.process.acore has stopped" error and occasionally the "unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" error.

I have read through the forums but the error continually pops up and when I do manage to pull up the settings function it crashes immediately. I've also tried to back up the phone using Kies 3 but it hung about 40% through.

Is a factory reset all that's left?

NP

pennykitty, thank you so,so much for this tip.Every shop, person I have gone to has said factory reset for my note 2 and lose all your data!
I am back to my normal screen again,ta!

ALIMICS - you're a rockstar - your steps to reset App preferences solved the android.process.acore error and I didn't lose any data THANK YOU!

This message started popping up on my S3 after I force stopped and disabled several apps I did not need or want. What caused the message was turning off the app "Calendar Storage".

The problem you will encounter when trying to fix this is that the error message pops back up about every 1-2 seconds after you hit "OK" which gives you the impression you cannot use the screen. The fact is: you can use the screen in between but you need to move VERY quickly because you only have those 1-2 seconds in between!
You can also scroll and swipe in between, but not very far so you need to keep going.

Here's what you need to do:

1. Go to "Setting"
2. Go to "General"
3. Go to "Application Manager"
3. Swipe left until you reach your "Turned Off" apps
4. Depending on how many turned off apps you have you may need to keep scrolling until you see "Calendar Storage"
5. Click the app and hit "Turn On"

Your android device should be working fine again and the error message should be gone.

My problem is that the error message pops up in less than a second, and this gives me no time to do anything.
After entering my PIN, the next screen is "Complete action using... where "Google Now launcher" is highlighted and I wish to click "Just once" or "Always". However, although I can click in time, there isn't time for anything to happen and the "Unfortunately..." message re-appears. Incidentally, I don't know why this "Complete action" screen occurs automatically.
I did have the problem once before and was able to resolve it with the Settings, but now I just can't get to Settings to change anything.
Phone just isn't usable at present.
Help would be welcome!

Thank you!!!!! It turned on (acore.com has stopped) when I signed into Facebook and that was it, just a few times but had disabled a lot of the Samsung apps that do nothing but take up space and irritate me. The calendar was one of them. Battery was draining really fast all of a sudden. The "tech" from Tmobile told me to do everything I'd already tried (restart, turn off, take battery, sim card, memory card out, etc because when I logged out of Facebook, I couldn't get the little bugger to get off the screen for more than 1-3 seconds at most and she told me to uninstall Facebook and like an idiot I listened to her so my phone locked me out and the next "tech" told me I had to wait 24 hours. It was already 2:30a.m. at this point. She (original tech) wanted me to do a factory reset and I refused and when I called back 24 hours later, I had put my phone on airplane mode and was able to do whatever I needed without any problems, just hit the emergency call on Samsung s5 and the dial screen came up and the guy gave me like a 15# password to get in, put my original pin plus I have a pattern as well and I was back in business but had to leave Facebook open which leaves me vulnerable. I came to this forum tonight and you saved me!!! Oh yeah, I could've had the password as soon as I called the 2nd tech 10 minutes after I was originally locked out!
I just restarted both apps for Samsung's calendar and I'm back in business. I knew it was 1 of the 15 or so apps I had stopped or removed but had a bad fall that has left me with subdural hematomas on my brain, am on blood thinners and suffer from really bad memory loss and other issues depending on my INR. Brain has almost absorbed all the blood after 7 months already but I don't have the mind I did prior to fall. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I was ready to have a nervous breakdown, I've never had any issues where I've had to bring my phone in or anyone else work on it and can't drive the 20 miles to Tmobile, although they were willing to give me a new phone. I'm not thrilled with the s5, I should've let them do the upgrade we were discussing but it's working but now my battery is draining super fast again. Just went down 49% writing this post. Still, seriously... Thank you SO much! Brilliant! Oh yeah, my font changed when I reactivated the calendar. Looks like Veranda, I think. Weird. Could care less. Just need to figure out this battery issue again. Was fine while calendar was shut off, grrrr!

Yes, I definitely need to do that but need to find a ride. my neighbors already drive me into the city, I live in a small town... Stillwater, MN and Minneapolis is about 30 miles from here and I prefer to keep going to the same store I've been going to for almost 8 years now even though I moved here 4 years ago and the closest one is 18 miles away actually and too far for me to walk when I get there because it's in a mall. I only dare drive 1 mile or a 2 mile radius until my brain injury heals up completely... they better give me the battery for free, I've only had the phone for several months. If not, I'm just going to upgrade and get a different phone, I'm just not happy with the Samsung s5. I don't know what it is but I just don't like it. I prefer the s3 actually and am thinking of getting the note 4. Any opinions on what the best phone is that's out there these days? I hate the camera on the s5, although I don't use it that often. Everybody raves about it and it drives me crazy! The pictures I've taken are absolutely horrible, I preferred the s3 camera much more than the s5. I've actually considered turning my s5 in or taking it to a pawn shop and paying it off and using my s3 instead but I'm sure there are better phones out there and I'd like to know what other people's opinions are.

My brother just purchased the s6 yesterday, upgraded from the s5 which he has to get because I did but doesn't even know how to email, text, make phone calls unless somebody has called him with their phone number so it's all ready for him... in his log and calls 411 (it infuriates his trustee because he is paying out all this money for my brother to have access to the information highway and he doesn't even know how to Google TMobile to find out if they have the s6 he has to get so his opinion really means nothing to me as harsh as that sounds, l M also curious about tablets, his very first one was the slate and now about three years later he just upgraded to the latest Samsung 10.1 laptop which I'm thinking of getting because my Samsung 10.1 was the first generation and having to use it when my phone went down yesterday made me realize it's time for a new one! Are there any out there that are superior, available, I realize that's probably a really stupid question because I'm guessing there are a lot of them out there that I'm not familiar with and I haven't used any kind of an apple product other than an iPod since the early to mid 80's. most people seem to love their iPads, iPhones, etc. but my laptop and PC are both compatible with Android and is what I'm used to, I don't want to have to change everything over and basically teach myself how to use a whole new system. I have an iPod but... I like the Samsung products. I've had an LG and an HTC and I liked the HTC quite a bit but I got it right before smart phone came out so I only used it for maybe a month and that's my history with cell phones, I don't have much of one.

I am really curious about other people's opinions as far as what the best phone is that's out there right now or that may be coming out in the not so distant future. it's so nice to finally find a site where I don't feel like a complete idiot, pretty close to one but not completely dense. thank you for any advice you might have for me or is anybody else has any suggestions I'm very open any type of suggestion for help! Thank you so much! I get some sleep tonight, finally! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the novella and thank you so much for taking the time to read this and any help that anybody has to offer I really really appreciate it! I can't keep my eyes open anymore, plus it's time for my nightly shot which is three hours late along with all of my other medication, I got a little carried away and excited when I found this site!

OMG! Thank you!!! This one worked on my S4. I thought I was going to lose everything.. kisses and hugs of gratitude!!
