Hello, all. I have an alcatel one touch fierce 2... it is rooted but i did not start getting this error message until at least a week after rooting. I'm not sure if it was candy crush updating or what, but NONE of the fixes I am finding online are working. I have tried all of the different types of going into apps and clearing cache in phone, contact, disabling them, etc. Then i did the thing where you hold down the volume + with power button and clear the cache there, then i tried factory resetting it multiple ways (through the volume+ & power menu, through the setting menu, etc. and NOTHING is working this error "unfortunately.... com.android.phone stopped working"... can anyone help me please??? my phone is my lifeline I run my business on my phone and i am freaking out NO CLUE what to do
thanks

update: just discovered it is not doing the error when wifi is turned off

Sorry u had to do factory reset. I had the same problem on my Galaxy Note 2. I refused to lose all my data. Here is a fix and that message popped up every 2-3 seconds. So I had to press buttons quickly:
Go to SETTINGS
then to: APPLICATION MANAGER
slide over to: ALL
scroll down to: CONTACTS STORAGE
CLEAR ALL DATA.
problem should be fixed.

Thanks! Solved my issue on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tablet. Running a ROM I found on xda, Acheron (deodexed and stripped 4.4.2).

Tried all those too...got one that even worked for a day or two...in the end- immediate fix was:
Facebook app- DELETE!
(unfortunately- as I have a business page I need a lot of access to)

I had this technical booting error message on my Samsung Note 3 N9005 (16GB internal memory with 64GB external SD memory) after downloading about 12GB of documents via online educational providers.

Problem 1:
- A display with the wordings "Unfortunately, the process.android.process.acore has stopped..." appeared every 5 seconds on the phone and then after about 30 seconds, the phone restarted/rebooted itself without further warning. On restarting/rebooting, the phone displayed the same message again and appeared every 5 seconds on the phone and then after about 30 seconds, the phone restarted/rebooted itself without further warning.

- This situation went in a few cycles without stopping until I pressed the phone OFF button for several seconds for the phone to turn off.

Problem 2:
- I went to my phone/data service provider and they quoted an equivalent of USD75 for sending the phone back to their technical office/factory for "system checking and investigation" and as a last resort for "resetting to factory" mode. If there are parts to be changed inside the phone, I would have to pay for the market/retail price of those parts.

Solutions:
I thought that the USD75 is too much just for "system checking and investigation" and as a last resort for "resetting to factory" mode. So, I went to my cousin who is a tech guy and he solved the phone problem in less than 1 hour! Unfortunately, all the data is lost and the phone was returned to the factory mode.

Here's the trick if you have similar/same technical problems and do not mind losing the data on your phone. The procedures below will remove the display errors and at the same time perform a total reset on your phone back to its factory mode i.e. re-format your phone and erase all data.

PROCEDURES:

1. Switch OFF the phone in the manner that you do normally (NOT restarting the phone)
2. Press DOWN the HOME button, VOLUME UP button while at the same time press DOWN the POWER button UNTIL YOU SEE THE ANDROID LOGO APPEARS [Yes, pressing down the 3 buttons all at the same time and at once for about 3-5 seconds till you see the android logo appears]
3. Press the VOLUME button to move up and down
4. Press the POWER button to SELECT the options given on the display
4. Press "wipe data / factory reset" option
5. After the phone has COMPLETED "wipe data / factory reset" (phone will display this information below the options given)
6. Press "reboot phone"
7. Once phone reboot/restart, you will see that the display is return to the factory mode and you will have to reconfigure the phone setting for personalization again i.e. date, time, wifi, internet, email account setting etc.

Hope all this information helps in your situation!

Good luck and good health,
Andy

Thank you for this!
Luckily, what actually worked for me was just uninstalling apps until the message went away.
Yay!

This is what I did and I am now acore error free!

First, since the main info about the error was Facebook, so l deleted the app. Didn't change anything. Didn't reinstall.

Next, I took the advice of removing recent installs. Nothing changed.

Cleared all caches.

The next step, as I've read, I cleaned out the Contacts Storage folder as suggested. No better, still have the error.

Next, I cleaned out the Calendar Storage, as someone somewhere mentioned.

Didn't see the error but rebooted any way. Error didn't come come back... However, I reinstalled a few of the recent apps that I really liked watching for the error. Clean.

As soon as I reinstalled the Facebook app the error popped up. I was ready to uninsayy everything as I went along and as soon as Facebook was uninstalled, the pop-up for android.pocess.acore hasn't come back.

Now the big question is how do I get back the Facebook app? The web version is crap on my tablet!

Hope this helps!

There may be a solution, at least it's what I found worked, although I've seen many folks here post like responses. However, I may have found a clue as to the root cause of this particular instance of the anomaly and why it occurs. First, let me say I'm using an LG-G3 (GSM Unlocked/AT&T Original Carrier).

I found, since I had installed Google Voice, and had a GV phone number, that any app which referenced that number instead of my local cell phone carrier (MetroPCS in my case) number, caused the error in android.process.acore. I'm assuming that the contacts, which get modified by these various apps (Facebook is one), become corrupted as soon as the GV number is referenced instead of the carrier number. Why this happens might be a case for Google to deal with, but it was true in EVERY app on my phone which referenced it, other than Google Hangouts which is its native app. In short, once I changed the number to my cell carrier's number, the error vanished. Even on Facebook with the most recent updated version of the app.

I really think there is something to this, William. It messed with my contacts and seemed to be a disconnect or bug there. In my case, deleting contact data, Facebook, calendar all did NOT work. So I went through my phone's app list purging unnecessary apps.

But I think I found the culprit in my case: Facebook Messenger. It recently decided that it was smart enough to import all my SMS messages into messenger as if it was going to be my default messenging app. So I killed it and voila! the notices went away. I did try to reinstall it only to have the error reoccur. So screw Facebook messenger. I never liked you anyways.

I am not sure that your solution will copletely work for everyone. As i mentioned before, I'm getting the error on my tablet which i only use via wi-fi. I'm getting the error here but do not use it as a phone, nor does it have any phone service. It's a Lenovo. My Google Voice number routes to my cell phone which happens to be a Nexus (not sure if the brands matter) and have never gotten the error on the phone. I do have the Facebook app installed on the phone but no longer on the tablet. I posted above on the steps i took. Hoping it helps someone.

UPDATE: I started receiving this error again and followed my steps listed above, did not have Facebook installed. This time it didn't work. I installed System Repair 2016 and Stubborn Trojan Killer just in case. Though they both found some minor issues, neither rid me of the acore issue.

I have tried everything I can find. I've even wondered if it is really a purposefully installed problem as I keep the same programs on both phone and tablet, less Facebook on the tablet. My Nexus phone has every app the Lenovo tablet has with addition of the Facebook app. I just find it very strange that the Nexus phone is not getting the error when they carry the same apps...

I did try to reinstall it only to have the error reoccur. So screw Facebook messenger. I never liked you anyways.

So I thought I had this bug zapped, but it was not to be. My error would crash only my contacts and things my contacts accessed, such as the messaging and phone app. Kind of a problem if a device can't perform its two primary functions, call and text. If I needed to make a call, I'd have to dial it manually instead of from contacts. Also, "OK Google Now, call wife" etc. still worked. So I used that for a bit.

But it got so frustrating, I just bit the bullet and decided to factory reset my phone. I looked into backup options so I wouldn't lose everything. There are no real good solutions without rooting, which I have NOT done to my phone. If you have rooted, Titanium Backup is supposed to save all your info, apps, appdata, etc. So I screenshot my apps, printed them off, I did back up my messages and phone logs via CM Backup and Super Backup apps.

Surprisingly, after factory reset, it automatically restored about 90% of my apps automatically, including some of the app data such as AlarmDroid AND my alarm times. That was a nice bonus. I had to manually install a few apps, games and entertainment mostly. And most importantly NO process.android.acore messages. The automatic recovery may be linked to my carrier or one of the numerous manufacturer backup apps that are installed. Not sure but it was not so bad.

I backup up my messages and phone logs via the two apps above. Worked fine. Installed the missing apps one at a time. Then I installed a Reddit browsing app I used frequently before the crash, RedditIsFun or RIF. As soon as it installed, process.android.acore returned. I uninstalled it and the couldn't replicate the error. Reinstalled and immediately returned.

Tl;dr Factory reset wasn't so bad. Error reappeared after installing Reddit is Fun app. It may return, but I'm good for now.

Motorola XT 1080- Droid Maxx
Android 4.4.4
Carrier: Verizon

I can not believe how long this has been going on and it has not been addressed, fixed, or there isn't someone out there who's smart enough write an app.

I do not want to do another reset (had to do one before but not for acore).

This feels like cruel and unusual punishment. You fix it, you get it back, and the last fix doesn't work this time.

Has Google/Android/any phone manufacturer ever addressed this issue?

Aaaaaand.... it's back. I can't open messaging app without getting the message 6 or 7 times then crashing the messaging. Same with opening contacts. I think it may have something to do with a corrupt contact file? After a flash and restarting my phone from scratch, I noticed it's importing about 5 or 6 contact backup lists. So I have multiple contact files for the same name. Maybe that's the problem. I don't know, but I'm about to throw my phone off a cliff.

Try deleting Airbnb, Facebook Messenger and/or Reddit if you have them installed. I have confirmed that any of those three will cause the error on my stock LG G3 ATT.

Good luck.....this error is so annoying I almost bought an Iphone!

Hello there!
If after a factory reset you still have this issue, I think the phone is kaputz. The Note 3 is old in the smartphone world, and it just may be time to retire old faithful :(

Edit: just thinking here, perhaps a reflash of the firmware may help, from Sammobile.com. Are you familiar with ODIN and flashing?
