How To Stop Automatic Email Downloads

My ThunderBolt automatically downloads all email attachments. It puts photos in the Gallery and everything else in the Download folder. I've played with all the settings under email, but to no avail. Which setting controls this and where is it? Very frustrating. Thanks.

I dont use a thunderbolt, but let me see if i can help you.
Under the email/ accounts section; if you find account settings, click on that and you might find an option that says something like this 'Inbox check frequency'... click on that and change the frequency to never. In this way the mob wont automatically download mails and when ever you want to, go to the email section and click refresh.

And about adding pics on to the Gallery, you might have got something like picassa autosynced to your account. Go to accounts and sync in settings, click on the email, and uncheck the autosync option on any of the 'pic related accounts'. IF PRESENT.

so you are worried about having every attachment download automatically right? and not having your e-mail pushed to your device, correct?

what email app are you using? stock? 3rd party?
i am using stock and i do not have this problem. i just looked through the settings of the stock mail app and found nothing to turn on/off attachment downloading.

to not have anything show up in the gallery, use a file explorer to place a file called .nomedia into the "download" folder. this will cause the gallery to skip over that folder.
