Help How to stop email notifications on Commando??

pupkact,
I'm not having any of the related issues but have been watching this thread abit, I appreciate your dedication to this issue.

I believe you and eltee are on the right path. Using the stock app to check my hotmail (I know not yahoo) I get a connection error if I have Wifi enabled and it is searching (between jumps from router to router). I don't think the commando is quick enough to smothly transition from 3G to WIFI to 3G while carrying out the same task. Just tossing it out there, maybe try to disable the WIFI function from the power control widget or in the settings menu next time you get a network/connection error.

Good luck,
John

I'm very frustrated. First of all, I have looked on the phone itself in the email app and cannot find anywhere that lets me go to those options that say anything about notification choices. So, I went to the actual yahoo page online and tried in the email account but nothing there either that says exactly what that post said. I am probably missing something but hubby is on phone with our wounded warrior (USMC) son right now so I will have to check it again later. I so appreciate you all trying to help me and it so bugs me that I can't do it right now! I'll be back when I can try it some more! :/

I'm frustrated as well, not with you to be sure, but that you are still having problems. This is annoying the ever living pooh out of me. I didn't have a chance to try the yahoo app as I had a 4yr old with the stomach bug and a pipe burst tonight (always something, but I'm certainly dealing with less less than your son, and let him know I thank him for his service and sacrifice). I'll be in touch shortly with my test results.

Just curious, have you gone on the yahoo mail app (it is called "mail") and done this: yahoo mail -> menu -> options -> username@yahoo.com -> and unchecked "Notifications" ?

(not the best place to put it...)

Edit: To test it, I unchecked it, exited out (pressed the back button until I got to the home screen) re-entered it, and sent a test email... no notification

for some reason the steps in the app I'm using, the one with the "blue letter and @ sticking out of the envelope" the steps are a little diferent than what pax listed, maybe this will turn into a how every single mail sewrvice works on the commando thread. I'll break down the steps for the "blue letter@ version" the "menu" we reference is the soft key on the bottom left with the 4 line btw. From home screen or app drawer> tap blue lettter email icon> tap menu > tap gear icon/account settings >uncheck Email notifications>press back twice > turn the phone off and on > try test email.

Good luck,
John

From home screen or app drawer> tap blue lettter email icon> tap menu > tap gear icon/account settings >uncheck Email notifications>press back twice > turn the phone off and on > try test email.

Good luck,
John

From home screen or app drawer> tap blue lettter email icon> tap menu > tap account settings >uncheck Email notifications>press back twice > turn the phone off and on > try test email

doing this worked on mine..no more notifications...email still loads forever and deleting messages takes longer than the screen timeout...I haven't had anymore connection errors..... hope this helps
