Help How to Sync Droid with Picasa

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else is having problems when viewing photos in your gallery that are on picasa albums not displaying properly.. eg they show up but never unpixelate.. dispite waiting for ages.. seems to be random for me.. googling it seems to find others with the same problem but no solutions... anyone here know anything or experiencing this?

Ok, I found this thread and everyone's assumption's are right. You're phone is tied to the main google account you put in, and you'll have to do a factory reset. (I have set up three droid phones now, and the third didn't have a picasa account when I first set it up....and only then did I discover this bug).

Make sure your picasa/google album account is set up FIRST, then when you reset your phone it will find your albums and sync them with 2.1 gallery.

Use MyBackup Pro and it will make the process fairly painless. If you have 2.0.1 gallery, you cannot sync it. This is for 2.1 gallery or rooted phones with 2.1 gallery either 2.0.1 rooted phones with 2.1 gallery or 2.1 phones.

If you use MyBackup Pro, you can backup not only your applications, but also your system HOME settings, making getting back to where you were not as bad as it seems.

Still, this is a bug that I'll be checking to see if Google has listed on their Android list. There should be some kind of setting that lets you do a "total reset" of any account, for exactly this type of situation.

Something similar that I've been having lately that's unrelated is that I'll take a few pictures w/the camera and when I back out and go to the gallery these new pictures are nowhere to be found. I can go into the 'camera' folder and back and forth and still nothing. Doesn't happen every time, just sometimes. The only thing that makes them show up is a reboot. Odd.

hi,
i have Gallery3D (2.1) on my 2.1 (rooted).
i have "Sync with Picasa" on my settings.
i have my Picasa folders on the Gallery.
the folders are synchronized with picasa, but the camera (photos and videos) are NOT
automatically uploaded to my Picasa account :/

I put Just Pictures! (free on market) on my phone.
It automatically synced to my public Picasa albums.
I had to authorize Just Pictures to my web album with my gmail login to open my private web albums.
Immediately I had access to all my web albums!

Excellent application - 5 stars!

I have a Desire and have no option to sync to Picasa, I can upload pics my selecting one and pressing a button to upload to it.

I find it strange that I have a stock option to syc to flickr but not to Googles own system

Ditto, I have a Desire with 2.1 installed (obviously), and I have the option to sync with flickr (yahoo) but not Google's Picasa. Are there any apps I can install to do this or any settings I should change?

No offense to the last 2 posters, but why would either of you two be posting in a thread in the Motorola DROID forum?

I didn't have Picasa sync when I updated to 2.1 on my Hero, even though it was already linked to my Google account. I uploaded a photo through albums, logged onto Picasa Webalbums through the browser, and when I checked the Sync settings again Picasa had magically appeared under the Google sync menu!

Didn't work for me. I messed around with it for a while too, sharing pictures with picasa and so forth. Nada...
Does the phone need to be rooted?

For me, I have Droid 2, and I had my GMail account on the phone, however my Picasa was not linking - there are several who have had the same problem as me - only showing calendar, gmail, and contacts. I went to accounts, and added an account for PICASA and now it shows my folders. Not sure if it is a work-around, but its working just like my old Droid :)

Thanks. I have it working now. It always was but I didn't know how to check the setting (Picasa sync was selected). Three questions:

1. can you download Gallery from the Market (I found it via a web link)? If not, why not?

2. where do the sync'd photos go? Where are they stored? On my SD card?

3. and why doesn't it sync both ways?

Cheers. Gallery is superb on a fast phone (Desire HD).
