Help How to Sync Droid with Picasa

Mine is an @gmail.com account. Does it matter?

Mine is a gmail.com account too and it is working for me. My trouble is that I can only get one of my gmail accounts to accept uploads from the 2.1 gallery and of course it is the wrong account. I have an account that I use to fwd my lotus mail to and that is the only Picasa account that will allow uploads. I can sync fine from both, but I don't want the images on that account.

Any ideas?

I think i got it...I did a hard reset and tried combination's till I just got it. I can confirm that other software is not the issue. I've narrowed it down to one of two procedures. I have never sent anything from the gallery to picasa. So the final time I hard reset I setup my gmail and uploaded a photo from the gallery to picasa. This syncs the folders to the phone so you can upload to a different folder on picasa. And then I installed gallery 2.1 and there it was.

The second procedure I did, which I think is less likely to be the key is I visited picasa from the android browser logged in and then downloaded a pic to the phone. But I don't think this is the key.

Anyone try this and have any success?

I think that syncing that much data would be hard on the servers of both Google and the service providers. Not to be a downer but I'd be surprised to see this happen.

I did what Crude mentioned as well......upload a pic to the drop box. This was before I had my Picasa folders show up. I could still pick a picture....hit share and upload to Picasa.

I didn't think that this might have helped in telling the phone which account was my Picasa account.

If you are talking about picasa sync then prepare to be surprised because it is happening on 2.1. :) Some of us have it working.

I did not have the option for Picasa. I am on 2.0.1 and loaded the Gallery app manually and never had the option for Picasa in the sync settings.

same. I can upload from the gallery to picasa...but no way to sync from accounts & sync (i only have facebook and Google listed there) No gmail... option either (even thos it's sync'd from Google).

Using 2.01 (rooted Droid here) with all of the 2.1 apps, picasa sync works fine here. And yes, I believe it's only with gmail accounts.

Hey...hey.....I think you're close. You said you have facebook and google. What do you get when you click on the google account to sync?

Give it a few days. When the official 2.1 releases it is supposed to have Picasa gallery syncing support as per the press conference for the Nexus One.

I have a 2.0.1 Droid w/ 2.1 Gallery. Picasa sync is working fine.

Here's what happened for me...

Installed 2.1 Gallery. Played around w/ it for a long time. A few minutes after installing I get a pop-up saying something like 'Gallery is trying to access your Picasa web album. Do you want to allow?' I said yes, then had to enter my account info (same as Gmail acct info). Then had to go into Settings>Accts & Sync>Click on my Gmail acct>and turn Picasa Sync On. Now it's all working beautifully.

I think some people are not realizing that you have to click on your Gmail address in Acct settings, and that's where you pick Picasa Sync. Your Picasa album is tied to your Gmail acct.

I had a Picasa account setup w/ a couple photo albums already uploaded before I installed the 2.1 Gallery. I think that's the key (maybe).

On a side note, the 2.1 Gallery is effing awesome. Have spent way too much time playing w/ it today.

Any updates on a sure fire way to get this working. I have web folders and a gmail account...I even uploaded to my drop box once. But the option won't show up after installing 2.1 gallery. I don't want to hard reset my phone.

Is there any chance there is more than one version of the 2.0.1 OS and/or the Gallery 2.1 app? I am one of those who does not have the option to enable picasa sync in the Accounts & Settings menu, and I have tried all of the suggestions above. My Gallery 2.1 app's version number is 30682. The OS build number is ESD56 (this is what came to me from VZW).

Has anyone gotten their Picasa synced photos to work with Slideshow? Am I missing it, or is this not an option?

I have a Nexus One and I am running into the same problem. I think I had the option to sync when I first signed in but at the time I never thought about using the online web album. I can't find the option anywhere to enable sync with Picasa after the fact. Anyone try to remove their Google account from the phone and add it back to see if the option shows up when you first log in?

Nexus One user.

I can't get the option under Accounts and Sync. I selected photos under gallery, hit share, and sent them to Picasa. Still no option under Accounts and Sync.

Question:

I've got like 500 pictures on picasa at the moment. If I sync that with my phone is it just going to put pictures on there until the memory is full or does it just take a selection?

The pics aren't actualy on the phone...only the fingernail is

one question - I have 3 accounts, one of which is a GAFYD - so, if I enable Picasa Sync for the other two standard GMail accounts, will all pics from each account get synced to both accounts?

If so, then, not gonna do it. I have them separated for a reason...

For those of you that don't have the option in your sync menu for Picasa, I found a way to get it there. Basically you have to sign out of your gmail account and sign back in. To do this, you have to do a factory reset on the phone. When you do this you will loose all apps that were downloaded from the market, text messages, and your system settings will go back to default. If you willing to reinstall all of these items, then go for it.

To reset the phone:

Goto settings>Privacy>Factory data reset

Your phone will reboot and when it powers up it will ask you to set up your gmail account again. Sign in with the account attached to your Picasa account and viola you will have an option to sync your albums to the gallery.

You can always back up your apps using a file manager such as Astro

I think you guys need to compare your versions of gallery. Settings->applications->manage applications filter all and select gallery to see the version number. Not sure if it will help, but worth a try.

Great idea (which is why I suggested it six weeks ago in this very thread).

My version info is posted above (post#62)

My Gallery 2.1 app's version number is 30682 as well, and I have picassa sync option.

I'm also rooted, so not sure if I'm a valid test subject.

No option to sync Picasa for me within xxxxxx@gmail.com

I set up my Picasa account within the last few weeks.
I've already uploaded a few dozen photos to my Picasa from my Droid Successfully.
I'm rooted w/2.0.1 launcher w/2.1 gallery and other 2.1 options.
My email account is xxxxx@gmail.com
Double checked settings on my Picasa account via web browser and saw no settings to adjust.
Good coverage area.

Not sure what else could apply but there's the list of what I'm running and still no option to sync my gallery to my Picasa account to show folders within my gallery. I have tried most things short of resetting my phone as listed earlier because it's just not worth the hassle for me to go to that extreme.

I'm wondering if those who have this working had their Picasa account prior to logging into their phone for the first time which is what resetting would simulate and those of us that are having struggles didn't have their Picasa account created until after setting up their Droid. That could tell us something right there.
