No- not all are sim unlocked. If you paid full retail, it should be- but if it came from a carrier with the price subsidized, it may be locked to that carrier. The OP's in the UK, I'm not sure if they lock them there or not. Best to check with the seller to be sure.
Hi again, you're the chap who bought the japanese model from ebay, right? I think they sold as "SIM-Free" but that doesn't always mean anything. Anyway, if your UK SIM works then I think it's safe to assume that it's unlocked. If in doubt just borrow someone else's SIM and try it.
I am the chap. My first one was duff. My second arrived ( this question was a pre empting incase it didn't work again) and its fine. No worries at all.
