How to test my new chinese 32GB micro SD card?

There are an absurd number of fake cards/memory sticks out there. Buy a card from a reputable company, sold by a reputable seller (At a normal price), or you're very likely to be wasting your money.
 
Before you use it for anything important I would try copying a large a amount of data onto it ( > 4GB possibly some large movies ) and then see if you can successfully copy it back off onto your PC and open the files. Most of the cheap fake cards are really much smaller cards ( usually < 2GB )that report that they are much bigger so anything over the size it can handle gets corrupted.
 
now it is the task of trying to get my money back from the seller - he had 2000+ feedback @99.9% positive but he has had the account put into 'This user is no longer registered on eBay' state. He wants the device back first then he says he will issue me with a refund but I suspect he will just say he never received it back and keep the card AND my money. Anyone got any advice?

So true. It really is staggering just how many fakes there are out there. I reckon 95% + of the stuff being sold on ebay is fake. To quote the website linked in the OP:

Nothing against you Adebesi, but I can't believe so many people buy these too cheap to be true cards thinking they are genuine and won't have problems.

Genuine 8GB and 16GB cards are pretty cheap anyway, eg
 
I bough two 32 GB sandisk (genuine) from a seller I trust (one for me, one for my wife) and they work great. Not cheap at
 
Kinda like batteries, there isn't much you can do to drop the cost without significantly cutting quality. They're all made out of the same bits, and there is less of a mark up on this sort of thing than you might imagine. Sure, shop around, but if it means you have to from a person not a company, be wary.

Indeed. In the case of the 32 gigabyte sandisk card, each individual memory storage unit holds three bytes, and is only 32 nanometres across. That means you could fit more than 3000 of them across the diameter of a human hair. There simply IS no margin for error, and hence no cutting corners to make things cheaper.

Here is how your claim will go:

You tell Paypal it's a load of rubbish and want a refund.
PayPal will tell you to return it to the seller
You return it to the seller.
They claim they never received it..

Never buy anything from a Chinese eBay seller that you can't afford to just throw away.

Honestly eBay need to get a grip with this. There are countless threads on here from people who have done exactly the same thing. There are probably 10's of thousands of fake memory devices sold every week on eBay and eBay do nothing about it until sellers have passed on thousands of them.
I've bought stuff from sellers before that had fake memory. Gave bad feedback and watched their account for weeks as more and more neg feedbacks flooded in before they finally got banned.
When they just set another account up..

People need to be better educated into not buying them!
 
several of my friends have bought memory cards and the like off ebay from hongkong/china etc, some even came with a virus most of them refused to do what they were intended for after a few formats, it is as quoted above better to use a repuatable firm, i normally wait until the likes of play.com have a sale on, they do free postage too so no hidden costs, they have a good returns policy too.

Send it recorded/signed-for and then you have proof.
